Just snooping around for a little hair inspiration lately, as I’m a bit bored with my default waves and curls, I found this great resource, Vogue’s Guide to Fall 2014 Beauty Trends, and though I flipped through about 86 of their hair, makeup, and other beauty trends, I found these to be the stand-outs.
Brushed Out Waves…
I like the idea of brushing out my curled waves and then maybe smoothing and separating them as well. It has a bit of a ’70s feel where the top rests close to your head and then waves out at the bottom, though will require a bit more work to style and maintain.
The Modern Pony Tail…
I tend to shy away from ponytails because elastics and rubber bands rip my hair out, but I love the look of them. From soft, low ponies to super high and tight swingers, I may just have to sacrifice a few strands to get these pretty looks.
Tight and Sleek…
Whether parted down the middle and slicked back or pulled back messily with fingers, these looks are easy to pull off with wet hair and make styling quick since you can let it air dry for the rest of the day.
A Hint of the ’60s…
I’m always up for a little bit of the ’60s nosing around in modern style, it’s so timeless to me… these smooth and straight side part styles with a hint of pouf are just pretty.
Updos & Lowdos with Loose Strays…
Slightly messy updos with loose strays remind me so much of the ’90s and I love that the looks are coming back. The loose strands soften your face and add a romantic and feminine touch with a bit of a rebellious I don’t care about my hair feel.
The New Braids…
Braids, braids, braids. I feel like the launch of Pinterest spawned our obsession with braids and pretty photos of girls with braids. I’m kind of liking these new takes on braids with a little more edge. Like a futuristic romanticism.
Side Parts & Ear Tucks…
These could also fall under “Brushed Out Waves” but the side part and ear tuck add a new dimension. They’re a bit sleeker and more refined and take a little more work to acquire.
