I can feel it in the air… the holidays are coming.
I know it’s early and I’m not going crazy or anything but a few semi-spooky items have landed in various areas of our house and I love it. Though, I kind of lean toward that kind of kookiness in general and may just keep them up year round, we’ll have to wait and see. I thought I’d share a few new things around the house I’ve picked up lately or just rearranged, as well as a few new items for Fall and a few things which have been bestowed upon me.
I’ll stop blabbing now…

* Alright, this little threesome is always on my mantel… but the Lancome Visionairre is what this photo is all about. I was lucky enough to have been sent this lovely new product by Lancome to test out and share with you my findings. And here’s what I think: I like it. It does what it says but the scent is very VERY VERY strong {and smells like my grandma}. I can get used to it but if you are in any way allergic to scents, I’d recommend not getting it. I use it mostly when I’m not going to be wearing makeup and it does a nice job of evening out my skin tone and shrinking my pores & fine lines, which I really like. It’s very soft and luxurious and I love using a little extra on the tops of my hands to prevent aging as well.

* These are the new loose-knit sweaters I picked up at Brandy Melville in Santa Monica a few weeks ago. {note: this adorable shop is generally marketed for the younger crowd… but I managed to find a few cute things}

* This is a vintage brass elephant obelisk that I use as a door stopper. It usually sits against the wall in the entryway and gets called phallic names by our guests. I found it at The Sherman Oaks Antique Mall a while ago. I love it.

* This was actually a birthday gift from the husband and I can’t believe I haven’t shown you guys. It’s an original piece by Cynthia Wolff {my ring designer} with vintage and new links and I just love it.

* These vintage books were my grandma’s and reside on our mantel but I just found this black hand at JoAnn’s the last time I was there picking up DIY materials. It was in the jewelry section so I’m assuming it’s for jewelry display but I thought it was kind of creepy and great for Halloween. Also, it had a few scrapes in it so I scored it for $4.00 😉

* A new green leather skinny belt from Ann Taylor {$30} semi-courtesy of Ann Taylor. It also comes in blue, yellow and a really fabulous animal print {$44}

* Vintage encyclopedias from the 50’s and Blue Ocean Traders Stone Buddha Head {new from GILT} in our game room on the gold stump side table.

* Fun agate drink coasters from Amazon.

* I’m getting new orchid stems yay.

* Still in love with my animal succulent planters… under glass now on the kitchen table

* Picked up a pewter feather wreath for half off at JoAnn’s. The black one I used on our door last year ended up on the ceiling permanently. I wonder where this one will end up? 😉
Have you started decorating for Halloween yet? Come on, be honest.

We don’t celebrate Halloween in Croatia 🙁 I miss it so much because I always had so much fun decorating while I lived in the US… Great photos Maegan, I love the sweaters and the necklace 🙂

Love those jewel-toned coasters, gorgeous! I also am searching for the perfect loose-knit sweater, thanks for the further inspiration! I can’t wait for halloween, any DIY costume suggestions?

I actually let out a little gleeful squeal of joy when I saw that gold stump table, I’m in love!

Agate coasters! only you Maegan would find these lovely items! You rock 🙂

I’m extra impressed with the orchid stems – I found them to be such finicky plants. Mine lasted a few years but I never got any to reflower. I had phal’s, cattelya, oncidiums, and even a paphiopedilum.

YAY for the holidays! Glad I’m not the only one jonesing to decorate for the holiday season. I’m counting down to October, because then I can Halloween the shit out of my new house!!

I fell in love with Brandy Melville when I lived in Westwood. Now that I am back in San Francsico I’m so sad we don’t have one here (yet). I went to their original store in Rome back in July and it’s HUGE. I was in pure heaven.

I’ve already bought and put out my first Halloween decoration of the season – a black raven with candle from Z Gallerie. Although, I’ll probably find a spot for it to stay out year round. Also, I love your grouping of birds on your mantel!

Random. And everything is just lovely. But I do believe your “orchid stems” are actually roots. I made the same mistake with mine. Apparently orchids don’t follow potting rules lol.

Love the feather wreath around the light fixture! What a cute idea! Now if only we had a dining room…
