Our living room, like the rest of our new house, is slowly coming together, corner by corner. I do a little here in one room, and a little there in another, instead of completing an entire room then moving onto the next. But I get so excited to share that I can’t possibly wait until it’s finished to do so.
I found this amazing chair upholstered in a velvet animal print a couple weeks ago at Hotel Surplus Outlet while looking {unsuccessfully} for a slipper chair for my dressing room. It was alone and hiding up on the rafters but as soon as I saw it I knew it needed a home in our living room. It has been sitting quietly in front of our fireplace awaiting its final resting place under the antique black mirror …which lie resting up against the wall, awaiting it’s destiny as well. They were made for each other. And finally, late Sunday afternoon, I had 4 strong arms in the house who helped me hang the mirror and merge this little nook together.
The Vitruvian Perpetual Face Vase was a gift to my husband and I in 2005 which I love …many people {including my husband} think it’s kind of creepy. But I don’t see the creepiness in it at all really. I can’t seem to find it online in white anywhere but the black and silver are pretty great too.

Finally, and maybe most importantly, a most generous wedding gift from my boss …our Nathalia Edenmont “Josefina” {c-print mounted to plexi} was installed Monday afternoon. And I just love it! I chose the medium-dark gray wall color with it in mind and I love the contrast …not to mention the reflection of it in the mirror on the opposite wall. I am extremely happy to have a home with a wall large enough to hang it on. It’s so big and bright it makes me smile every time I walk in the room.
…and that little dimmer switch placed in a strange but admittedly convenient spot in the middle of the wall above the couch will soon light a fabulous Phrena Hanging Lamp by Karl Zahn, 2009 from the MOMA Store.
My first choice, really, was a George Nelson bubble lamp …but remembered that when they are lit, they have an amber/yellow glow instead of white. And since I knew this Nathalia Edenmont was whiter than white, I wanted the pendant lamp to be so as well. So I went for the Le Klint swags …but when I found this Phrena at a fraction of the cost, it was just too good to pass up. Hopefully it’s not a bitch to assemble. I cannot WAIT to get it!

What a lovely space. I adore the bright pink fur you have draped over the back of your new chair!
I agree with you…I don’t think the multi-face vase is creepy at all…I love it!
Must be a great feeling to have the space coming together so nicely.

I love your design style. I wish I could suck it up and incorporate it into my empty boring untouched house.

I love that chair so much! It looks so comfortable too.
My younger brother has that face vase. Another of our brothers gave it to him for his 19th birthday as a semi-joke but I love it and he has grown to love it too.

Linda
Love that print and your couch. So gorgeous.

I wanted to paint the walls gray in our last house, but the landlords freaked out and we had to go with khaki instead. Seeing your walls reminds me I still want to do gray sometime. (Our current house was already painted.)
Eli
the vase is very Jonathan Adler, I actually love the whole layout you’ve shown us. I really like the modern sophisticate look. I’ve had to move so many times that I decided to donate a lot, and Im not going to buy anything until I know I will be somewhere a little more permanently. Its a little sad when I see beautiful house photos like these!

Glad everything is coming together for you! We moved into our house last September and I decided over the weekend (when I finally got our mantle the way I want…sort of) that at the pace I decorate, I’ll be done in 2014. Hope we’re still living here then!
Maegan
Veronika: I LOVE THOSE PILLOWS!!! I found them a couple years ago at Target for $14 and would have bought 10 if they had them. Now, mine are all mushed and sad and I wish I had new ones! they’re sooooo soft
Meaghan
I adore that chair! I am a chair addict love them and your whole room!

I saw the face vase at Ross last week and debated on buying it…so it was kind of creepy that it showed up today in your post. I like the look of it now that I have seen it in your space, I may reconsider. 🙂
Style Porn
So flippin cool. It reminds me of the house I stayed in when I went to Palm Springs. Sort of mid-century modern-meets modern.
Cambry
For that chair, try calling your local Big Lots. They usually have really nice furniture for a heavily discounted price!!

Your decorating style is fabulous! Very different from mine, but a style that I still very much like and envy people who can pull it off. But most of all, I love to see pictures of your adorable boston terrier. He/she is sooooo cute! My heart weeps a little at his cuteness and smushy face. I have a dog that is part boston part chow who is the sweetest thing ever. Yours reminds me of mine.

I love that little lamb rug as decoration. I bought one for my little girl. I thought she outgrew it, so I was going to give it away. But, you have inspired me to use it as decor. Thank you.
