We were down in LA this week for the husband’s 40th birthday and stayed in a bungalow cottage at the Chateau Marmont for a night, which is what you’re seeing here. All the doors and trim are painted in this cute mint green, and I LOVE the overgrowth of vines and plants everywhere. The one thing I really miss about living in Los Angeles is the palm trees, and there were plenty surrounding us and blowing in the breeze. Our suite {No. 88} was literally among the billboards. In fact, less than ten feet from our cottage door was a huge billboard that if you leaned far enough, you could easily touch. The door that I’m standing at here was actually the room next to ours, but each have their own stairs and entry.
It was a fun night and this is what I wore. We had a nice dinner with friends at the restaurant in the hotel – that Keanu just happened to also be dining or drinking at as well, which was quite funny since he’s one of the husband’s FAVORITEs, as well as a friend at the table {who was giddy knowing he was just feet away from us}. If you happened for see my Snaps from that night, you’d already know all of this.
It’s funny, when I lived in LA {uh for my entire life, lol} I always thought it was a bit of a bummer because there are so many fantastic hotels there with amazingly old “Hollywood” stories and legends attached and I always wanted a reason to stay in them… and now that we’re up in the mountains, we totally have that reason, which makes it all the more fun. My drive always feels like forever heading back home, but it’s always under 2 hours, which is nothing, really. I’m just so tired by the drive home I wish there was a teleportation system in place to beam me back up the mountain. Though I have noticed so much more of the landscape is green this year instead of brown, which means, we have gotten “some” rain at least.
Anyway, it had been years since the last time I was at the Chateau, and every inch of it looked the same… and I love that old Spanish Catholic school vibe it has 😉
