{LATISSE® solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker.
Eyelash hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes}
If you’ve been a reader for a while, you’d know that I have super short, straight blond eyelashes which has lead to severe eyelash envy of anyone who possesses naturally long and beautiful lashes. And while I am too lazy to wear falsies every day {and really just cannot bring myself to do that} and am a bit afraid of professionally applied eyelash extensions {and barely can get to the salon to maintain my hair} …when I saw Brooke Sheilds advertising Latisse the other night on VH1 {yes, I was watching Daisy of Love and/or Charm School} …I was a bit intrigued by the idea of naturally {kind of} growing my own longer and possibly darker eyelashes.
What do you think? Would you try Latisse?
{…needless to say, it kind of freaks me out …beyond the fact that there is actually a term for “inadequate eyelashes”}
drollgirl
NO NO NO!!! YOUR EYELASHES ARE JUST FIND!!! enough with monkeying around ladies! work with what you’ve got! bah!
i am in a mood even tho i had delicious action this morning. hahahaha.
hope all is well. you are gorgeous. you do not need more eyelashes or anything! at all. save yer money for bags and shoes. 🙂
drollgirl
um make that YOUR EYELASHES ARE JUST FINE (NOT ‘FIND’ –STUPID TYPO SABOTAGING FINGERS!!!)!!!!
Brittney
It is very, very expensive. Just does not seem worth it.
J-Diggety
Oh hell no… that shit freaks me out. I am one of those lucky lush-lashed gals, but even if I had less lush (haha, luvin’ the alliteration here), I still wouldn’t let that shit near me.
J-Diggety
And P.S., you are SO fab, SO fashionable, SO beautiful, SO HOT, no one looks at you and says “hmmm, she’s pretty but not quite the complete package – she just needs longer lashes…” No way, sister!
LENORENEVERMORE
I heard you have to continue using it for the rest of your life…well this is what I heard fm my sister’s friend’s friend…
~You are gorrrgeous darlin’
Brown Girl
I would totally try it…I’m kind of a skeptic on if it actually works though. I say it’s worth a shot!
Milly
same here….my lashes are short and straight…would love to have them long and full….and i saw that commercial too…but i dont know…im iffy about it
Lucinda
The whole blah blah blah may occur and you should not use Latisse if blah blah blah scares me to death. When i was picking up some Mother’s Day gifts in Nordstrom, they had a mascara product that was supposed to help length and thicken and it was $99. Seems way less intense, maybe try that if you are really curious.
Vanessa
Interesting…not sure if I would try it though.
Cathy Voyage
I don’t think that works…
brooke
what the frig folks….maegan i say do it…for my own selfishness so i can hear about how fabulous it is when you tell me it works!
i actually saw some gal’s blog who worked for a plastic surgeon or some ridiculous nonsense (read: i am jealous) and she tried it and posted before and afters and based on that if i had the funds…yep i’d be down…
Miss Anne
i just got some eyelash stuff too… can’t remember the name… will post about it on your post when i get home..
xoxo
Wanderlusting
Hmmmm. I also have short blonde wimpy eyelashes but they aren’t bad enough to bother me. I mean, they do but I have bigger worries on my face lol. Dark circles, anyone?
Baffled Blogger
i wouldn’t…you’re absolutely gorgeous anyway, so whatev! the side effects, yeah not worth it!!
Sher
Rogaine for lashes 😀 I hear it works try it.
issa
hmm.. i have stubby uncurlable eyelasshes.. it’s so sad.. but i’ve been really tempted to try one of the many eyelash growing tonics out there.. i’ve heard that lilash works
Sheri
I too have short eyelashes and this product does sound very intriguing to me too. However, all those possible side effects make me just say no to the drug. 😛 Irreversible darkening of the eyelid.. blindness.. um… I’m gonna pass.
Hanako66
I totally want you to get it so that I can see if it works lol
but seriously, I’m thinking about the extension…will totally post if I do it
AND I mentioned you today for showing me that sweet etsy shop
josephine wayward
Mhh, I share your problem, I have short, straight eyelashes as well. They annoy me and make me look tired if I don’t curl them. But! I’m a bit doubtful about Latisse :/. I can’t imagine that it works and I just think it’s… weird? And it’s really no big deal with false lashes, though I only use them on weekends.
steph
Girl you are gorgeous as is, whatchu talkin’ about? I did see the commercial and it IS intriguing, but did you hear it can darken your irises? I worry that since you have light eyes, your eyes could change colors? I’m not sure! Just buy mascara! =)
Lindsey Conrad - Nabors
OMG – I was just getting on my blog to post something about Latisse. I saw it in my Dr.’s office yesterday and have been pondering over it and wondering if it really works! I have no lashes and often wear false ones when I go out.
So funny that you just posed this since I was about to do the same thing. Great minds think a like! =)
scarlethue
Anything like that, I say give it a couple years. If by then there’s not a hoard of blind fashionistas or red-eyed starlets running around, it might be worth a go. Plus by then it might not be as expensive.
But I agree with everyone else. You’re gorgeous and don’t need this. But no one’s perfect. Gotta learn to love even the so-called flaws.
Laura
Hi cutie…my step-mother is a makeup artist and she swears that Latisse works. But she also has her lips tattooed so I’m not sure if we should trust. Ah Daisy of love, she’s such a guilty pleasure.
-city-love-
when i saw this commercial, i thought it was kind of neat! …until i heard the side effects lol
Watkins Wackiness
NO DONT DO IT!! first of all, your eyelashes are great!! Secondly, that damn commercial freaks me out!! did you listen to all the side effects… yea, you might have longer lashes but HELL your damn eyeballs might fall out!! LOL
Felicia
I got excited when I saw this commercial too, but am too afraid to try it. And really, who knew Brooke Shields suffered from this problem? HAHA!
Kristin
Noooooooooooo. Freaky!
Chessa!
I personally wouldn’t put anything chemical near my eyes that did not absolutely have to be there. I’m paranoid. I don’t even like getting my brows waxed bc I don’t like anyone too close to my face…I mean, I suffer through it, but I don’t like it. eye doctor…I have to self-medicate before I go to be able to stand it.
having said that…not everyone is as neurotic and nuts as I am…and when it comes down to it, if it can help you and it will make you feel better, then try it…I don’t know. I’m all for doing whatever makes you happy.
🙂
and if Brooke endorses it, it has to be good. I heart her.
Chelsea
I would give it a try. Plus, I dont think Brooke would put her name and face behind a product unless she believed in it.
Becky
I have seen this commercial too…but there are some side effects-including possible blindness…so I would consult with a good doctor first!
Jenna
eeeek! have you read up on the side effects? not so sure that its worth it
Meg Fee
there’s a big article in glamour about it–the one with j biel on the cover. if i could be convinced that the chance of side effects is super slight, i’d try it in a heartbeat. i have skimpy lashes.
TheBeautyFile
I’m honestly scared of Latisse. I can’t promote anything you put in your eye…I just feel like in 10 years they’re going to say it causes brain tumors…I’m a little hyper neurotic, but still…Shu Uemera has AMAZING false eyelashes and they’re a lot cheaper/safer?!
Anonymous
YES, I would and I have and I love my beautiful, black, long eyelashes. Yes, it’s expensive, but if you think about how much you spend on mascara, it’s not that much. My eyelashes are simply gorgeous!
Shalay
Hell yeah I’d try it. Life’s too short. It’s not going to blind you. Besides, for all those people who are scared of the side effects, just think about every other thing we put into our bodies every day that have potentially harmful side effects – birth control, antibiotics, the AIR we breath, etc. I’m not one to walk through life scared of everything, so I say go for it. I’m actually looking into it for myself.
And seriously, we all know you’re already beautiful the way you are, but there is NOTHING wrong with trying to improve yourself. Like I said, life’s too short. If you think it will make you happy, then why not go for it?
Brunch at Saks
I’m on the fence! I have the worst luck with products, so I would personally tell you to wait until it is the absolute last resort.
You are so gorgeous- no need for Latisse my love 🙂
Maritess
Hi Maegan! Thanks for visiting my blog! I’m new to the blogworld so I appreciate your comment!
Also, I heard about this from Glamour!! I have practically non-existent lashes and I was so ready to get Latisse, until my friend scared me about the side effects.. but ionno.. call me crazy but I’ll prolly still try it..
Sheena
Other then the fact that your beautiful already…. I dunno about that sh*t seems like a money makin plot… plus I think Brooke Shields is always the first to sign on and promote something she has never actually tried herself.
Elizabeth Marie
No no no! Bags and shoes, bags and shoes!
OR extensions if you must. But this stuff looks scary.
kelly
i heard if you stop applying it will go back to the same way it was!!! its just not worth it!! AND think about all those meds/ commercials/ products that like 5 years later you hear all this crap about…like that diet pill? or that nasal stuff that causes you not be able to smell anymore! zicaM? i dont remember.
i would say NO on this one.
Tiffany
I am using Revitalash and my lashes are totally longer and it’s only been 3 weeks. Everyone has noticed it already!
I only used it after a friend used it and showed me how long her lashes are. I think I’m a bit too vain, will try anything for beauty! 😉
Toni Tones
id def say no on this one babe ……ur eyelashes r fine…xxx
Bombchell
i was intrigued but i remembered at the end they said something about once u stop, itll stop working and go back.
ms. mindless
my mom’s best friend is a doctor who owns a medispa, so she gave me some latisse about two weeks ago. i have normal lashes and in two weeks, i have noticed a slight difference. i’ve been taking pictures and we’ll see at the end of 6 weeks if there is a noticeable difference. yes, there are side effects, but i have talked to many people who have used it with no problem. and, besides, if you look at the side effects of mot drugs, there is some wacky stuff that can happen to you talking anything.
Style Porn
I’d do research but then go for it if it sounds like it would be safe. I have really a blond friend who used to get hers dyed, but I think they say that’s really dangerous. If this is safe go for it!
diane
Why risk damaging your eye sight for fuller lashes? Maybe we should ask the people who have botox injections in their foreheads. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Brooke walking around like Stevie Wonder in a few years.
Iva
I saw this commercial too, I think I’d be to worried about it for now, it seems too new.
FrancoB.
I am the only one in my family with curly eye lashes, and people used to tell me I had girl eyes 🙁
{tig}
Had no idea such a product exisited — have you heard any reviews of people who have tried it? A little cautious, simply because anything near the eye area can be a little scary . ..
Jill
The one thing that keeps me from trying Latisse is that you must use it forever for it to continue to work. I commit to anything that long! I do have two friends that use it and they are very happy with the results.
Mary
I don’t know. All that stuff about eye pigmentation freaks me out a little. You are gorgeous– stay that way!
JKreids
I stopped in my tracks when I saw this commercial the other day. Two things stopped me — “darkening of the eyelid” and “possible browning of the iris”. I have green eyes and love them. Would hate to have my eye color (or lids) change to brown because of this! Be careful! … or be our guinea pig.
L’Oreal’s Voluminous mascara has done wonders for me.
Kimberly
I went to see my eye Dr. last month and he was telling me about this stuff. He said it was originally used for people w/ Glaucoma and the eyelash growth was a side effect. So of course they want to capitalize on that too.
But anyway, I think it’s safe enough. I would try it!
Little Miss Obsessive
I just saw this commercial the other day and remember thinking it sounded awesome until they got to the side effects which could be permanent. I would wait it out for awhile and look up reviews online and see how many people experience the side effects.
Savvy Mode SG
i just did a thing on nue lash and now i am really curious but a lot of people swear by these lash growing products so i am tempted.
Little House on Green
I’m curious too, I have short blond lashes too. But, I’m a bit afraid of the long term effects, what is unknown yet. If you do try it (although I don’t think you need anything to enhance your beauty!) let us know.
Gabby
I’m late to the party – but I say go for it. I used to work in a dr’s office and the drug reps told us about it before it came out. Like Kimberley said above, it was originally intended for glaucoma, but a ‘side effect’ was lush lash growth. Drug reps were stealing it for themselves.
Must be good stuff! 🙂
The_Katura
Oh don’t do it! Get some dioshow! Lattise can change the color of not only your eyelids but also darken those gorgeous blue eyes of yours!!
I’d steer clear!
K @ Blog Goggles
Mine are pretty lame, but it’s not something I even notice any more (certainly don’t notice them on anyone else!). Depends on the price – if it’s more than $20, then I’d vote for more shoes instad 🙂
Chelsea
My Mom lives on the other side of the country, so I don’t see her very often. I was home visiting about a month ago, and we were on our way out. I looked close at her and asked if she was wearing fake lashes. She said “no, these are my real lashes, i’ve been using lastisse!” Her lashes were seriously twice as long as they normally are! It’s about $150 bucks, but she said it’s worth every penny!!
I say try it!
Megs
I just started it a couple weeks ago and so far i haven’t seen any incredible changes but I have noticed that my eyelashes seem sturdier — if that makes sense? I’m not losing as many eyelashes as I usually do. I talked to my doctor and she said I should see more results in a few weeks. Can’t wait to see the full results!
Leigh
Maegan, stay away from the RX lashes! This “new” product is actually just a rebranding of a powerful steroid that is typically used (in eye drop form) to treat glaucoma. My mom has glaucoma and has been on the medication for several years, and although she has super-long lashes, other side effects include sinus problems and headaches. She has always worried about what the drops might be doing to other aspects of her health, even as they work to reduce the pressure in her eyes. I know that if she had a choice she would never never put that stuff into her body. Don’t do it just for cosmetic reasons. You are so gorgeous already! Taking risks with your eyes is just not worth having your dream eyelashes. XOXO.
lookrichbitch
if it wasn’t so darn pricy, i’d be all over it. i’ve used the jan marini eye lash treatment before and that actually worked really well – to the point where other people actually noticed my lashes without me having to tell them! but word on the street is that they had to change their formulation so I haven’t gone back to it.
heather
i’ve been using latisse for three months and i LOVE it! it may seem pricey, but when you consider the cost of false eyelashes and mascara, i think it’s worth it. plus i’m still using the same bottle that i got in march!
before using latisse, my eyelashes were very light blonde and average length. they have now darkened to a medium brown and are incredibly long (like, my boyfriend thinks i’m wearing falsies long). i recommend it!!
Diva Style
Absolutely not!! This sh*t might make you go blind or something. I have read (and heard) about the horrendous side effects–I can’t even believe that Brooke Shields is touting this dangerous nonsense!
Anonymous
One of my friends has started using this and I was floored at how long her lashes were. They look like falsies! She says she hasn’t experienced any negative effects. I am gonna wait a 6 mnths to a year and see what happens. My eyes are already bad and I don’t want anything to compromise them!
Hartbeats
I love Latisse and will always use it. It makes a huge difference and no side affects that I have seen. I put a drop inside my cap and dip my brush in to apply. LOVE my lashes!!!!!
Lhiggin
i use this I love it!!
the proof is in the pics see for yourself this is after only 4 weeks!

I’m using Latisse for less than a month and it really works.
