my inspiration

Pinterest, Pinspire, very Pinteresting

pinspiration-inspiration

Eavesdropping on a random tweet conversation via Holly of Decor8 & Anna of Doorsixteen, I followed a link about a new copycat site called Pinspire. By the name I immediately knew it was a clone of Pinterest and while I’ve seen this happening all over the internet on various different levels, I wondered if it was morally right.

So what did I do? What anyone would do! I immediately signed up and began “pinning” just to see how it worked. And right down to the color scheme {though Pinterest is prettier}, it’s exactly the same. I think the only difference is that it incorporates international users where maybe Pinterest doesn’t? I also think anyone can sign up instead of the elitist invite system that Pinterest uses. {UPDATE: Thanks to my lovely commenters, the above two sentences are moot. Pinterest does incorporate both international users & allows anyone to join – so yeah, direct rip off. I will be interested to see how far they get as well} Really, it’s the same as Tumblr or Craftgawker or We Heart it or any other site where you can pull images off the internet without really crediting a source. But it’s also a fun place to store inspiration too. So, if you can’t beat em, join em!
