While Alison was talking to the sales girl, I was browsing the under $100 section that are not behind glass. They all have a sensor on the BRIDGE OF THE NOSE so that when you try them on, if you can get them on, you can’t tell what they look like.
Under my breath but mostly to Alison, I say “Why do they do this?” and shake my head. Not expecting an answer from anyone, I hear a loud YEAH, WHY DO THEY DO THAT? from a man who is now standing DIRECTLY behind me – and WAY TOO CLOSE. I acknowledged him and half-smiled and walked around to the other side.
By the time I got to the counter where Alison was – on the other side, HE WAS STANDING THERE and name dropping Roberto Cavalli repeatedly! He started telling Alison to try on this pair and that pair – so much so that the sales girl thought HE WAS WITH US!
I was beyond annoyed by this point so I looked at him and asked directly “Do you work here?” – hoping he would get the hint! He said no – then laughed and said something to the effect of liking to help out.
It was CLEAR to anyone who would have caught this interaction that we did not want to be bothered by him any longer.
We tried to ignore him but every time Alison and I tried to talk to each other and compare glasses, he would throw his opinion in too but MUCH LOUDER AND ALSO MENTION ROBERTO CAVALLI again!
I finally looked at him from across the counter and said “I’m sorry BUT WE REALLY DON’T NEED YOUR HELP!” and turned back to Alison.
We tried to walk over to a different section when he says in a loud voice “NO, I JUST DON’T THINK SHE’LL LIKE THOSE” and walks out the door.
FINALLY. I mean who does that? So annoying!
