Fashion my shopping

* Spring Shopping * 2009 Neutrals

I must confess that I’ve spent the entire morning shopping online …and maybe a little a couple days ago as well. You see, I haven’t purchased a thing outside of necessity since the beginning of the year because, as you know, my paycheck has been cut almost in half …oh and, we’re saving for a house, etc., etc., etc. BUT, I was starting to go insane and since spring is just around the corner, I splurged a bit …with my husband’s approval, of course 😉

When I shop I consider what will enhance and/or work with what I already own. I think about the upcoming season and the trends and figure out how to make what I already have work with minor updates instead of buying all the new looks {which, don’t get me wrong, would be fun too}. I have also taken into consideration my husband’s most recent wishes and have been looking for more dresses and classic pieces …because, let’s just face it, I’m not 20 and trends that look great on young fashionistas don’t always cut it for us 30 somethings. Beyond that, my wardrobe has to be work appropriate.

I splurged on some things …for instance

these were a fairly big splurge for me but they only had my size left so I took it as a sign that they were meant for me {but, it’s also possible that my feet will be too wide for them and I’ll have to send them back}

I’m clearly having a nude shoe-a-thon because I also bought

Jessica Simpson Halli Sandal in Honey …and

these Pour La Victoire Women’s Fiona Open-toe Platform …and even though they are all technically in the same color family, the styles are so different that I will be able to wear items that I already have to create new looks with them. {also, nude shoes are huge this season …which means, they may go away for a season then come back with a vengeance}

spring dresses, bcbg, cynthia vincent

Both of these adorable dresses were on sale and should satiate my husband’s need to see me in semi fitted dresses {which he informed me would be even better with no panties on underneath}

Left: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Mesh Yoke Satin Dress and Right: BCBGMAXAZRIA Trapunto Stitch Jersey Dress …there were about 3 more I actually would have also purchased if they had my size.

Luckily I won’t have to buy a new handbag for spring. I’m currently still in love with my Marc by MJ bag but I also have an old LV that is absolutely perfect for spring …no it’s not the IT bag of the season, but it’s a classic nonetheless. The NOE in Damier Azur canvas

I’m still on the lookout for a few frilly floral frocks which I’ll most likely look for at Forever 21 or vintage shops. However, Victoria’s Secret has got some great stuff right now as well …which is surprising because it’s been a while since I’ve seen anything promising there. I also need some new flat sandals because the ones I have make my ankles hurt which once again reminds me that my 30 something feet need just a little bit more support than my 20 something feet did …and I guess I’m okay with that …I guess I have to be …lol.
