my husband

Our Marriage Wedding Story…

Two years ago, today, my best friend and I got married.

This was our song …

It was just the two of us and it was amazing. The most fabulous thing about eloping is that you do not have to worry about anything else {or anyone else} but the person you are going to say “I do” to. And that is why it is so special.

We had a fabulous limo from limo find pick us up and take us to the place where we get our marriage license, where we stood in line with about 10 other couples waiting to do the exact same thing. It was actually really exciting and only took about 15 minutes. We then got back in the limo and went to the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. …I know, cheesy but it was really fun!

We looked into each others wet eyes, holding hands the entire time, smiling, holding back tears, waiting to say “I do”, waiting to kiss. And when it was over, the judge {who just so happened to be from our home town} said, “Now turn around and smile at all of your guests” …which of course there were none of …which of course put the biggest smile on our faces, not to mention WE JUST GOT MARRIED!

The photo below is that moment …with a different background.

We were originally planning to have a wedding @ Red Rock in Vegas and had planned a trip there to see the grounds Labor Day weekend. Two days before we left, we said “Let’s just do it now!” …and then I ran around frantically trying to find a dress.

I finally found a dress at a vintage shop {an original 60’s dress that was brand new with the tags} altered it myself and decided to get shoes once we got there. After a day of shoe shopping in Vegas {and an almost fight with soon to be husband} I decided to wear the Agent Provocateur corset I originally bought to wear AFTER the wedding, to the wedding with jeans. And seriously, it couldn’t have been a better choice … I mean, IT WAS VEGAS! And I ended up wearing the 60’s dress to the reception party we threw a couple months later.

I originally wrote {what seemed like} a six hundred page post about how I met and fell in love with my husband. Out of respect for my husband, I decided not to post it. Maybe some other time. What began as a happy and upbeat post about our meeting actually brought back a big emotional wave of sadness due to the tumultuous events that surrounded our beginning.

So, to my husband, my best friend, my soul mate, I love you forever. May our bond grow tighter each day and our love grow stronger each year.
