It’s common knowledge that the San Fernando Valley {home to my entire family for two generations now} is known mostly for cultivating like, OhMyGod Valley Girls and for being the Porn Capital of the World. What you may not know is that The Valley is also known for having the best sushi restaurants in the country. In. The. Country.
Ventura Boulevard, aka “Sushi Row” just happens to be the home of our absolute favorite little sushi restaurant, Yen Sushi & Sake Bar. Quiet & quaint with a lovely atmosphere {& a flatscreen to satiate the husband’s need for continuous sports news} Yen has impeccably delicious sushi. We didn’t find it because some guide told us it was #1, but because we used to live nearby.
Whenever we are craving sushi, Yen in Studio City is where you’ll find us. {usually against the right wall, under the ever-changing colorful lights}

I’m gonna have to try that place when I’m back home from school. I actually grew up in North Hollywood! It’s such a small world. Thanks for the recommend Maegan! Love your blog.

Gorgeous pictures. There are not many sushi options here in Omaha, Nebraska (go figure), so I’m utterly jealous of your plethora of choices!

Oh, I did not know there was one in The Valley! I go to the Sushi Yen on Pico (Just west of Beverly Drive) — it’s my favorite!
P.S. I’m new to your blog, but I love it! I especially loved your throwback “leg up shots” post from a few weeks ago.

Hell yeah it is. Rep Rep SFV. Might I also add it’s home of the original Katsuya. Take that, Hollywood.
Try Asanebo in Studio City. Michelin Star.

yep I’m a born and raised Studio City girl! Definitely talked in questions for my whole childhood haha. And loove the sushi. Have you been to Kiwami yet? (Katsuya’s relatively new place) Go to their happy hour because the have an amazing deal on certain dishes! ($20 for crispy rice spicy tuna, popcorn shrimp on spicy tuna, albacore with crispy onion AND a seafood ceviche! ridiculous right?!) Matthew and I go there all the time and pretend we just forgot that it’s happy hour 🙂
