Besides my very favorite heart shaped spoon {above}, which you may remember from my Yogurt Pie Recipe Post {which I WILL be making for Easter}, the silverware or, flatware to be correct, that lives in our house is a mix of a modern/simple handled variety, {mine} and a more ornate/floral pattern {the husband’s}. I don’t love either pair but I haven’t found a suitable replacement in my searches as of late. Oddly enough, the ornate/floral set are the exact same set my grandma used to have in her kitchen and the daily reminder of her is kind of sweet.

That said, our flatware {above} is mismatched {floral set is Oneida – Louisiana} and while I don’t mind it on a daily basis, come the holidays, I do get a bit disappointed when it’s time to set the table. * notice there are no utensils in sight on my Thanksgiving Tabletop …usually storing them in a cute pile or basket in the kitchen or somewhere else.
The other day I was minding my own business on on Pinterest {and if you’re not on Pinterest, you totally should be because it’s fun and addicting and a really great way to organize all your inspiration photos} and I found this adorably cute and easy spoon painting diy and thought it may be the perfect way to merge my two silverware collections into one by painting the handles and give them new life! …though I’m not exactly sure what color yet. Maybe the same blue that’s in the artwork on the wall? . . . Maybe a rainbow of colors? . . . Maybe just certain areas? . . . The possibilities are near endless! . . . Fun, right?

Love this post. Specifically how spoons turned into pictures of spooning. lol. I used to know people who would collect spoons! My silverware is very mis-matched as well there’s things from my mom things from bed bath and beyond and crate and barell all mixed together. I have to go through it at some point!

I’ve been looking for some DIY art for my kitchen (I have a weird bare wall in there) so maybe a day of thrifting old spoons and some paint will do the trick. What a great idea! Thank you for sharing.
Kitties spooning…to freaking cute!

I think you should paint them a rainbow of colors! Or like different shades of blue/ turquoise. How pretty would that be to open your silverware drawer everyday and see them ?)
