How Do You Red, White, and Blue?
I realized that it’s not only the 4th of July when I wear a red, white, and blue color scheme. In fact whenever a nautical style is in the air, it’s bound to be in a similar color palette. So I thought I’d round up some of my favorite outfits that are not necessarily #TEAMUSA themed, worn specifically for such festive events, but that could inspire you to pull some outfit ideas from your own closet to wear this week and for the 4th.
Sometimes I want to be very literal in my support for this American holiday and others, I just want to sort of honor it in a more subtle way. So here are 11 looks from my style archives that may just inspired you {and me} to come up with something fun without spending any money in the process.
I love this easy look… Boyfriend shorts, scalloped tank, sneakers. It’s barely got any red to it, but that’s easily solved by adding red sneakers, a red necklace and/or bracelets, or simply by adding a cute red scarf in your hair.
Don’t forget red lips could be the perfect single pop of red in your look!
Instead of red, opt for a pretty coral, using white as your main accent color. You can add a few navy accessories like bracelets or a bag {or even a scarf on your bag to complete the look} : I love this coral maxi with white accessories {sadly I think I stained it last year with a little bit of dribble down the front and it may be lost to the laundry gods forever}
The easiest options is always Basic jeans and a white T with red, white, and blue accessories. Simple and easy and always available in your closet.
I LOVED my Blue and white polka dot overalls last year {though there’s no red here, I actually wore them with a red tank for the 4th last year} but you could easily add a few red accessories or sneakers and call it a day.
Go a bit more bold with a Blue and white print/pattern dress with red accessories. I adore this dress. I think it would be just as cute with a pair of little sneakers as it was with this lace up retro d’orsays.
Another super easy outfit… adding nautical stripes is always a 4th pleaser. Grab a red bag or add a few red accessories and you’re ready! Easy stripes and slip-ons in red, white, and blue
Don’t want to be so literal? Why not add an alternate color like gray! A Denim shirt over a gray maxi with red accessories is festive without being over the top and great for day to evening conversions.
Go Messy Nautical with bohemian flares, and stripes. Add a hint of red and you’re ready.
For a chic look on a chilly evening, pair white jeans, and blue stripes, topped with a trench coat and a few pops of red accessories for Chilly 4th of July
* Here’s another option in a similar color palette that’s a little more relaxed.
Red pants are a fun option but are also rather loud… add brown leather accessories & stripes to tone down your look Or click to see how I added a little leopard print with red, white, and blue to mix it up a bit.
Another easy trench look for a breezy night paired with a navy & beige striped dress and red accessories.
Hope these outfits have inspired you to pull something great from your own closet that’s festive, chic, and fun for this 4th of July holiday!
Happy Fourth Planning!
* If you’re not the red, white, and blue wearing kind of gal, just give yourself a festive 4th of July manicure and call it a day!
* I’ve got a fun 4th dessert coming tomorrow I can’t wait to share!
