British designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa, consistently create the most gorgeous and feminine, yet bold dresses and wedding gowns of any designer out there. I just love their aesthetic and their Fall Ready to Wear 2012 collection is no exception. Inspired by “late-nineteenth-century French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s A Soul Brought to Heaven, which depicts two angels spiriting a young woman through the clouds” to quote Style.com’s Meenal Mistry, the gowns in the collection seemed to be conflicting good vs evil or dark vs light with wings, feathers, floral embellishments and intricate embroidery that resembles a skeletal-like structure. The cut-out features are exquisite as are the boots and shoes to match.
I’ve chosen only to feature a few gowns from the lighter side of the collection, and the shorter lengths, mostly because I preferred them, {I adore the drop waist and long ruffle} but could you imagine the gorgeous red dress above in a white or rich ivory for a wedding gown? It’s just breath-takinglgy beautiful, not to mention, one of a kind. Oh Friday, I’m in love!
* On a side note, is Georgina Chapman just the most beautiful woman you have ever seen? When I see her on Project Runway All Stars, I find myself staring at her, jaw-dropped, in awe. Speaking of Project Runway, who do you want to win? I’m sort of in love with Mondo but I always want to wear Michael’s designs so I’m torn. I can’t wait to see their mini collections next week!
