It may be a little late for Christmas and Holiday crafts, but this minimal wreath tutorial was so pretty and so simple, I just had to share, even if I don’t use it until next year – at least I have my own reference. I found it originally via Bazaar.com: How to Make a Modern Holiday Wreath from a workshop Brittany Asch of BRRCH Floral gave on how to create this simple, yet stunningly chic holiday wreath with modern elements and a bespoke touch.
I think the most stunning and unique part of it is the rich velvet ribbon streamers hanging from the bottom rather than from the top.
Here’s What You’ll Need…
- Wire wreath form
- White pine * from flower market or yard
- Japanese branches
- Eucalyptus bunches
- Green wire
- Velvet ribbon color of choice
Here’s How She Did It…
Start with the pine, weaving it in and around the form, using the green wire to secure in several spots. It is best if the branches are all going in the same direction, unless you want a more wild look.
After you fill the form with the initial layer of white pine, begin to tie in bunches of eucalyptus, layering them in the same direction of the white pine.
Next fill the inside with Japanese branches to desired fullness, securing everything with green wire along the way. An extra-long, velvet ribbon adds a dramatic touch.
And… Voila!
BRRCH’s ‘Blue Velvet’ Juniper, Eucalyptus and Cedar wreaths {below}, similar to this DIY tutorial, are available for order. $100 for local deliveries with nationwide shipping available. It’s a heartier option you can make as well.
