It’s finally getting warm enough to peel off my layers of sweaters and thermals and coats and socks and show some skin for the end of Spring and this coming SUMMER, YAY! So I’ve been stocking up on cute stuff {and dusting off some old stuff too} that I’m just dying to wear now that I can. Here are a few fun items in various spots around my office.
I’ve actually been looking for a great white bag since last Summer. One that’s not too big or too small and the perfect shape is difficult to come by. I found a Thakoon messenger last year that worked for what I needed it for in Palm Springs {see it here}, but I wasn’t in love with it, and really, it was larger than I wanted.
You’ve most probably seen some version of this heavy metal foot bottomed Alexander Wang ~ “Rocco Duffel Bag” in the last few years, as it has become quite popular. But it wasn’t until I saw the smaller version in white, named the Rockie Duffel Bag that I knew it was right for me.
It’s the perfect size… it fits my larger wallet AND my big camera while still managing to be small enough for Summer without weighing me down. I love that I can wear it over my shoulder, or like a crossbody, or gripped in my hands like a duffel. The hardware is technically gold, but it sometimes looks silver and sometimes rose. So it must be some mix of metals or just magic, of course, because it’s perfection. And it zips around the top, kind of flap-like rather than straight across like a normal duffel. I love it’s sportiness … and clearly I can’t stop talking about it. So yeah, I’m excited about my new bag.
* Alexander Wang Rockie Duffel Bag
I found this fun piece of jewelry at a local shop called The Lake House and was drawn to the black and gold because it looks so Egyptian. But what’s even cooler about this {$15 piece, shhhh, don’t tell} is that it’s completely sculptural… as in, I can wear it as a bracelet or necklace, and in a handful of different ways. It’s really light and really versatile and comes in a ton of different colors.
* It’s called Le Twist $14.99
I was so lucky to receive this limited edition Marc Jacobs floral pouch/zippered clutch from the Resort RTW 2013 collection as a gift and I just love it! It’s so cheery and so perfect for Spring/Summer and it’s getting tossed into the white bag for when I want to carry something even smaller. {I always keep a pouch or wristlet in my larger bags if I need to be hands-free on the go. And this one is perfect for the warmer seasons. I keep my Alexander Wang eelskin wristlet in my 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli at all times.}
Avarcas USA sent me these adorable peachy suede pons sandals from Spain last year and the year before in brown and black and I’m still just as in love with their simplicity now as ever. Not as much support as I need on long walking days, but I just adore the laid back vacation-y vibe they have. Like I just want to wear loose linen drawstring pants, a bikini top and a hat and sunglasses and call it a day.
I also found these adorable pink DVF Botswana flats with leopard heels last year on sale and haven’t gotten to wear them yet. They’re a cross between slippers and ballet flats, but are cut open for some sexy toe-cleavage ;}, which takes them a step up from cute and onto cool. So, love that.
I did a little shopping at Karen Zambos after seeing interviewing her for Tide, and was extremely excited to find this faux snakeskin hip pouch on sale for $30 because WHAT, it was originally $104!? It’s so great to have on hand for when you really need to be hand’s free and this neutral palette will be stylish longer than you can say fanny pack.
I also couldn’t resist this fab clear plastic double buckle belt which I think will be so fun and so versatile with so many different dresses and looks.
I’m in love with Superga sneakers. Just in love. I have white on white and navy/white, but I’d love to own every single color they come in. Mostly because they’re cute and classic but also because there are very few light weight sneakers that also have great support, and these do.
My necessity for comfort, which has come with age and having a bum ankle {still}, keeps me grabbing the Supergas over my old faves: Vans and Converse. But I still keep those on hand too, I just wear them as I would heels: on days I know I won’t be on my feet too long. And I’m so tempted to buy this platform version as well… but I literally had the same shoes {made by a different brand} in the 90’s & I’m not sure if I’ll pull them off with the same ease now as I did then or maybe just look like I’ve never stopped wearing them. You know there’s that age you get where you’re just not quite sure how they’ll go over? But regardless, they’re adorable and I’ll be wearing these all Summer long.
Geo Print Deep V Dress by Pencey which I just adore… the skirt has a little bit of a cheerleading skirt vibe, with the white pleats, and I think with little white Superga sneakers, it will just be adorable in the Summer.
