My Mom drove up for a weekend visit and a little pre-birthday mother-daughter fun, so I took her shopping at the Village amongst the Oktoberfest backdrop, and found so many cute outfits for her all right here. I got her into skinny pants for the first time ever and watching her fidget with them in the dressing room while doing squats and showing me where they don’t fit quite right, was a riot, not to mention a glimpse at what I did to her when I was a child. We had a few great laughs.
We picked up a few cozy sweatshirts and T’s in the Izod store, but in the G.H. Bass & Co Factory Store, we found not only MAJOR sales, but 4 pairs of skinny pants and corduroys, a chambray shirt, a plaid button down, a sweater, and a new pair of boots all for under what I’d spend on one pair of jeans. I mention this only because if I actually spent what the price tag said on the items, she’d never wear them. She won’t spend more than $20 on a handbag, seriously! The pants were on sale for $20-$27 each and since my mom thinks she’s three sizes larger than she is, we started with a size 6 {though she thought she was an 8} and finally settled on a size 2. Yes, my mom wears a SIZE 2 PANTS!! And at one point when she looking at her reflection, murmured I look like a cow, I nearly shook her as I screamed, YOU’RE WEARING A SIZE 2 THE SMALLEST SIZE THEY MAKE. Come on!
She was reluctant at first, but we had such a blast shopping as I played personal stylist, running back and forth to the dressing room with new things for her to try on… then I styled her for this little photoshoot the following day at home, adding a few of my own tops and sweaters to switch up the looks a little {we bought more bottoms than tops}. She was trying to mimic my outfit poses, can you tell? LOL
