We all know that embellished sunglasses and “bling” isn’t a new phenomenon… If you lived through the 1950s, you may have worn a pair of jewel-encrusted cat eye reading glasses. If you loved everything ’70s glam, you probably had a wild pair of sunglasses to match. And if you were alive in the early 2000s, you’d remember that nearly everything was rhinestoned.
Well it’s time to welcome back the bling because it seems that this bedazzling trend is making a huge comeback, at least on eyewear, and I for one am kind of loving it!
Of course they’re not for everyone, but they sure are fun! Think more 1970s Elton John Glam though than 2000’s Paris Hilton… These beauties are over the top in a campy way that’s completely obvious and not necessarily trying to look expensive – if that makes sense (as the 00’s styles were)… but they’re definitely expensive! Most are in the $300-$600 range (like any designer sunglasses), but Gucci has a few pairs over $1300 which I’ve featured below in the shopping widget if you wanna click through to see all their styles. I found a few inexpensive pairs by Betsey Johnson, and soon -I’m betting that knock-offs will be filling fast fashion stores worldwide – IF my trend-spotting is on point, that is 😉
The sunglasses featured here are all by designer Kerin Rose Gold via her label a-morir whose unique frames are anywhere from $200-$1200 and are the most glorious of all. I really think Kerin and a-morir are THE REASON this trend has surfaced (celebs and personalities have been wearing them since 2008), so I wanted to pay full homage to her particular designs, because they are incredible! I can’t even choose a favorite pair because I LOVE THEM ALL!! But these are pretty fabulous! Go browse all a-morir styles here!

At SmartBuyGlasses you can find a wide variety of eyewear, from trendy sunglasses to prescription eyewear at good prices!
With this embellish-everything trend, I also am seeing the designer logo trend return, which for Louis Vuitton and Chanel never really goes out of style, but right now I’m seeing logos peeking out EVERYWHERE! So pull your bags from their dust bags or dust em off and start using them again.
It’s super fun when fashion gets flashy though… and usually means the economy is on an upswing. But also, once it goes up to flashy – it’s bound to crash down to nasty – just sayin’ – keep those dolla bills in your savings accounts… cuz I may have DIY’d a few pairs for you to copy on the cheap. Stay tuned 😉
