3 Fab Looks for Fall // 6 Month Salvation with Target Style

teal coat _ over the knee boots_Altuzarra for Target Style

Fall is finally here and there is a definite chill in the air, which means I’m going through my closet and pulling out all my cozy layers, knit & faux fur accessories, boots of all varieties, and of course, my coats!

Target and Mode Media, challenged me to find something in my closet that I haven’t worn in the past six months and create 3 new looks with it using the clothes from Target I’ve picked up within the last three months for my #TargetStyle posts.

So much fun… I love a good fashion challenge!

Since coats are huge for Fall, AND since we’re seeing deep teals in all the Fashion Week runway collections, I thought my “6 month Salvation” piece should be this great teal coat with faux leather details that I just adore, but haven’t worn in over six months. Sure it’s been Summer, and sure I haven’t worn a coat because it’s been warm and that’s reason enough, but my tendency to grab a coat and go when the air chills has me reaching for more neutral colors like camel, black, brown, and gray, rather than colorful options. This deep teal number is not only the perfect jewel-tone for Fall, it’s a fun challenge for me to incorporate and create looks around a non-neutral piece. Hopefully in doing so, it will inspire not only me to reach for colors over neutrals more consistently, but to also encourage you to go through your closet and find a great piece to give a 6 Month Salvation to as well.

Look No. 1… ’60s Mod Modern

I recently picked up these super fabulous over the knee black boots with gold hardware, part of the Altuzarra capsule collection for Target, and fell in love. They are surprisingly comfortable and utterly chic and I just HAD to pair them with this uber mini vintage jeweled-toned dress that hasn’t seen the light of day for well over 6 months as well. It was a secondary 6 Month Salvation since the ’60s have yet again made the rounds on the runways, and I’m in fashion heaven when the ’60s are back.

It’s shorter than I am normally comfortable wearing BUT paired with a longer coat creates a little more coverage in the back while still showing off these amazing boots in the front. I added this chic white and gold tone statement necklace from Target and oversized black sunglasses, also from Target, to complete the look.

Look No. 2… Amped Up Basics

I picked up these super light wash, ripped skinny boyfriend jeans from Target for my Light vs Dark Denim challenge in August and loved the fit and feel of them. Paired with my recent buy, an Altuzarra for Target orchid sweatshirt, added to the simple and basic feel. Adding the ankle boots and large black handbag amped up the look and took my easy basics to another level. The coat, of course, was the perfect compliment, along with a wrist-ful of black and gold bangles from B1952 at Target as well.

Look No. 3… Cute + Sporty

sporty look with coat+ cat ears

These black quilted sneakers by Mossimo® from Target {along with my leopard pair} have been my recent go-to staples for anything I’m wearing. I just love, love, love them. They’re cute with pretty much everything at the moment and pairing them with this cute black skater skirt by Mossimo®, a recent Target find, and a Merona gray sweatshirt Tee from my July TargetStyle post, created a really cute and sporty look I adored.

The coat added color and warmth for the chilly Fall air while the white duffel-style bag added to the sporty feel. And since it’s the beginning of my favorite month ever, HALLOWEEN MONTH, I couldn’t help adding my DIY leather cat ears to top it off.

I really love these types of challenges… ones that I may not impose on myself. It had me really rummaging through my closet like I hadn’t done in a few years and finding gems I completely forgot about. So this is my prompt to you to go and find a few treasures of your own right in your own closet!
