My latest collaboration with Target and Mode Media for Target Style was to create a head-to-toe look that truly represents my personal style exclusively out of Target clothes. Easy right? Well here’s the catch; they’ve asked that my significant other, aka the husband, choose the outfit for me.
Generally the husband has pretty good taste, though he tends to like me in very short and revealing dresses that happen to show lot of skin. For obvious and totally clichéd dude reasons, he always opts for tall boots. Below is a quick interview with the husband about his outfit choice.
1. Why did you choose this particular look?
Because it was hot, I guess… I thought it would look good. And I was right, so…
2. What is your favorite part about it?
The short dress with the boots {His original answer had more to do with what was or wasn’t underneath the dress}
3. If you could change one thing about the look, what would it be?
Well, I like the black necklace, but I don’t like the cross… so I’d remove the cross I guess.
4. If you had your way, would you like me to dress like this every day?
I mean, yeah, I guess…
HILARIOUS!
First, while I actually do love this look, and am happy with the choices the husband made, it may be a wee bit young for this old broad. On the other hand, if I were heading to a concert or bar, two places I rarely find myself at these days, it would most definitely be appropriate.
I happen to love this little plaid dress with lace trim though. It’s SO ’90s and so cute and surprisingly versatile.
If I were to style this on my own, for an evening out to somewhere other than a bar or concert, I’d probably add opaque black tights and maybe even a turtleneck underneath, giving it a hint of a ’60s vibe. I’d pair it with a longer, maybe knee-length coat and possibly keep the boots or perhaps swap the OTK boots for ankle boots or even lace up brogues.
