Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer and the fifth most common cause of cancer death …in both women AND men. {Wiki} This is a scary statistic!
While I don’t have any family history with this type of cancer, it is not something that I do not worry about. I mean, I am a woman and I do have breasts but in addition to that, my mom was adopted and we have no knowledge of illness or medical history from her side. Oh, AND I smoked for about 12 years.
I have had a love/hate relationship with my own set of twins since they made their first appearance on my chest at about age 13.
After getting teased by boys about being flat chested {who isn’t at 11?} I used to pray at night for them to grow and found myself trying to mimic what other girls who had nice big boobs did …thinking that’s how it worked.
And when they did finally morph, I realized that my prayers lacked specifics.
For I simply prayed for my boobs to grow but didn’t specify “pretty” “even” “round” or “full”. So, as far as looks go, I have always hated them and in the back of my mind {as crazy as it sounds} I fear my hatred will somehow lead to the dreaded breast cancer.
I think we’ve all heard of Save the Ta Tas which gives 100% of every sale to breast cancer research.
…but this one is new to me {and quite cute!}
go to Save 2nd Base to read their story.
…and of course, there’s always the Free Click Breast Cancer site. Every click of the button helps fund free mammograms for women in need.
To all the women who were brave enough this month to go and get a mammogram, congrats and I hope your results are, well, let’s just say CANCER FREE!
Boobie kisses all around!
