Last week Michaels sent me one of their pre-lit faux Christmas trees to participate in their Dream Tree Challenge as well as a small fortune to shop for fun Christmassy finds and DIYs of my own making. And a few days ago I posted photos of me shopping at Michaels looking for the goods. And today, is the big reveal!
I’ve never had an artificial tree before and really, they’re kind of fun and easy! What I love is that you can position the branches exactly where you want them. You don’t really get that option with living trees. I did find it a bit sparse though so my goal was to thicken it up by adding real dried eucalyptus branches and snow covered twigs interspersed throughout. My theme was Winter Wonderland so I purchased mostly white, silver, gray, and slate blue ornaments and decor in various sizes to really fill the tree without cluttering it up. I also grabbed some silver and slate blue wrapping paper and added glitter ribbons and bows to match. I love a coordinated tree 😉 I hope you love it too.

I used trimmed pipe cleaners as hooks to add more white fluffiness
And trimmed dried eucalyptus branches…
Using wire cutters, I clipped off snow covered branches…
…and placed them strategically throughout the tree
I purchased large white poinsettias, cut the stems in half and slid them into the tree for BIG impact… I also found small white poinsettias with wire backings that I tied to the ends of my branches throughout.
I turned these snowy decorative votive rings into wreaths by simply slip-knotting a glitter ribbon through them and tying them to the tree branches.
I made a second Starburst DIY Tree Topper with pipe cleaners and placed one in the front and one in the back of the top of the tree to make it appear fuller.
