I haven’t done a Sunday House Crush post in a while. Mostly I’ve been too busy, but I think part of it has to do with the fact that I’ve been completely resisting the idea of actually having to sell my house and to do some serious (and real) house hunting.
Maybe I’m overthinking it… maybe not. But in the last few days I found myself perusing Zillow listings in my area again and it’s been a minute since I’ve even done that. And it’s funny. Now that it’s “real” there are very few homes that I actually find myself falling for.
Much of my house crushes are for homes that are way out of my price range, like the sweet mansion on Robin Hood Lane for a mere 11.8 million, that sits on its own peninsula on the lake. I loved it so much I used it as my phone wallpaper until just recently when I finally had to upgrade my phone. I think I was trying to law of attraction it into reality, but I guess I wasn’t doing it right 😉
The truth is I like to keep my overhead low and I’ll probably be looking for a home in the 300-400K price range and from what I’m seeing at the moment, none of the homes I’m finding are meeting my criteria. Generally, if the home is in the right price range and even the right size and shape, etc., it’s not in the right location and vice versa. And if I hadn’t just spent a year renovating Dogwood Tavern, the thought of renovating a house would be fun. But I don’t want that same headache at all, it’s time for a little ease in my life. I want a home that is move-in ready, with everything upgraded. Beyond paint and little decorative touches (light fixtures, paint, landscaping, etc.) I want a place that is already “me”.
…and I think it actually already exists… it’s the home I’m currently living in. Ugh.
But before I go down THAT rabbit hole, here is a sweet home in the area I do actually like (though out of my price range)… but I would make a few interior changes if it were mine because it’s rather tan/brown, but still beautiful nonetheless.
