The Last Day of LOST …Son of a Bitch!

LOST supper

Although we will be absolutely lost without our Tuesday fix of LOST, it’s fitting {for us} that it should end in May. Unlike the rest of the “losties” who started watching it weekly in September of 2004, we were a little late to the party when we bought Lost – The Complete First Season on DVD, four years later in May of 2008.

After our annual trip to Vegas that year, we returned home sick with colds but still had a week’s worth of vacation time left before going back to work. So we gathered all of our bedding from upstairs and turned the couch into an island of soft pillowy coziness and cuddled up to watch the pilot episode of what everyone else had called “the best show on television”.

My husband loves a great hero and often identifies with that character, so the moment Jack Shephard appeared on screen and become a leader by helping the other survivors {but remaining humble because of his “daddy issues”} the husband was hooked. It took me a bit longer to buy the whole thing but by the end of episode two {the second half of the pilot} I was itching for more.

What I thought was great about watching the seasons on DVD is that, of course, I didn’t have to wait a week to find out what was going to happen. LOST is famous for it’s cliff-hanger endings so I could watch the next episode immediately and be fully satiated …until the end of the show which just left us wanting more. And more …and more.

Needless to say, we watched the entire saga {4 seasons} in the following month and a half which literally made us feel like we were on the island with them, blurring the line of reality, LOST reality & well, television. We were so totally and completely immersed in LOST life that when we were done with 4 seasons by July “reality” hit us hard ….WE HAD TO WAIT 5-1/2 MONTHS FOR THE NEXT SEASON TO START. I think we literally had LOST withdrawals for the following weeks.

By January though, for Season 5, we planned to get together weekly with my brother & sister-in-law to have dinner & LOST nights which quickly became a tradition. And through Morgan’s pregnancy & the birth of my niece we trudged on. And when this last finale season began, my mom became a part of it all by babysitting that little darling who is just so cute there would be no way possible to concentrate on anything else but her.

So tonight is a sad night in more ways that one …it’s the end of an era, for LOST & the tradition we have created around it.

Watch this hilarious short montage of Josh Holloway as Sawyer on LOST use his favorite expletive, SON OF A BITCH whenever in a sticky situation …which is pretty much always.

Husband and I originally saw this on an episode of Attack of the Show

To all the super-fans out there …I’m pretty sure by the end of this evening and 4 hours of LOST, we’ll all be crying together …and hopefully because it was so great we’re sad to see it go …and not because they failed to answer our questions and wrap everything up as we so want them to. It’s the end of an era.
