* Title: The Windmills of Your Mind – Noel Harrison… never ending or beginning… like the circles that you find… words that jangle in your head… like the windmills of your mind… why did summer go so quickly… was it something that you said… when you knew that it was over, you were suddenly aware, that the autumn leaves were turning… to the color of her hair.
The opening song for the original film, The Thomas Crown Affair, which is fantastic, obviously SEE IT if you haven’t ~if only for the fabulous ’60s details and Steve McQueen… Though I’m equally ~if not moreso in love with the newer version {1999}, which is not so new anymore actually, but regardless, the song is great… and at the same time sad somehow, forcing me to think about the end of summer instead of the beginning.
I always have great expectations for summer, because it’s my favorite time of year, and I think I’ve already enjoyed it this year more than the last 13… So I suppose If I look at it that way, I could essentially let go and be happy and content that it has already been a win, and it’s only just been a week.
But it’s clear that I’m obsessed with summer this year, more than ever. I think it has much to do with where I’m at in my life, the fact that my husband and I are separated, and really wanting some sort of validation that I’m heading in the right direction… but also, I just want to have FUN. Like the kind of fun you write books about and go to the movie theater to see. Yes, I want what most people probably assume doesn’t exist… but I really believe that anything is possible as long as you think it is.
Life is limitless, fun must be had, new adventures are on the horizon… and maybe summer is just for relaxing a bit and knowing that everything is happening exactly the way it’s supposed to. But sometimes I just want all the answers right now… which would ultimately take the fun and excitement out of life’s grand mystery, which is my favorite thing about it.
