Cover FX Custom color drops review

I’m usually pretty excited when I get the opportunity to do reviews on makeup and beauty products because it gives me the perfect excuse to try new things I may not think I “need”… and then fall in love with.

In this particular case, I was SUPER excited to try Cover FX Custom Cover drops because it utilizes a concept of foundation as a “mixer” which I already employ. This way I can really customize the level of coverage I want at any particular time, which is different from day to night, activity to activity.

Until now, I’ve used a BB or CC cream mixed with my SPF facial moisturizer, sometimes tinted, sometimes not, and sometimes it’s a bit thicker than I’d like it to be. These new Cover FX Custom Cover drops are made specifically to do what I already love and feature a special Flash Fusion Technology™ formula, so as soon as you drop the foundation in your hand, the solution flashes off, leaving behind only the pigment! It’s pretty cool actually and literally weightless when I drop it in the palm of my hand. And since I’m already used to applying my base this way, it was really simple to get right.

You can customize the color {I chose N20}, pigment, and texture by blending in your favorite moisturizers, serums, oils, primers, foundations and tinted moisturizers that are water, oil or silicone-based, that you already know work well with your skin and love, to create the coverage that you want.

The pigments are coated with Lecithin, which is biochemically similar to the skin, to ensure ease of blending and the smoothest application and unprecedented control. How cool is that?

The weightless foundation drops transform your favorite beauty product into the sheerest tint all the way to a total coverage foundation, depending on how many drops you add.

1 Drop = Sheer Coverage
2 Drops = Medium Coverage
3 Drops = Full Coverage
4 Drops = Total Coverage

Use 1 drop mixed with your SPF moisturizer for sheer coverage during the day and use 4 drops mixed with an illuminating primer to glam it up at night!

There are infinite possibilities! I wanted to show the full coverage option, using four drops here along with my favorite tinted moisturizer. And as “heavy” as it was as a base, it felt like I had nothing on but my regular tinted moisturizer, but with far more coverage.

While I generally mix my products with my fingers or simply rub my palms together to blend it and then massage it into my skin, I wanted to try the foundation brush as an applicator tool. I think I prefer my hands to the brush application, but there was a smoothing quality that brushing it on had, which I liked. And, when I went on a bit too thick, I dabbed my brush in water and was able to use my wet bristles to thin out the areas which were too heavy, like between my eyes and around my mouth. In this way I was able to customize it even more by thinning out certain areas and leaving others as they were.

What I Love!
