Made for a new generation of rebel hearts, the Worlds End Capsule revives the ’70s and ’80s “Clothes for Heroes” archives from Vivienne Westwood’s storied Kings Road shop. As I stated briefly in a recent post which was the size of a small novel, I’ve made many mistakes as a blogger. For instance, in the early days, when all those ten questions and tagging things were going around, I included a photo of a nice pair of breasts, that were NOT mine, without thinking anything about it. You see, though I’m not willing to put my own on display, I don’t have a problem with female body parts, but I was surprised by the emails and comments about the boobs being shocking, so I eventually took the photo down. It was an honest mistake, as most are, but I learned how fickle the internet was early on.
So wearing this t-shirt with a graphic of a drawing/sketch of boobs on it in an outfit post, admittedly, has me a bit worried the internet trolls will come out to play, but since this cause is so fantastic, I’ll have to live with the consequences… Please know, it is not meant to be offensive… we all deserve equal rights.
Free The Nipple is a film, an equality movement, and a mission to empower women across the world. It’s a stand against female oppression and censorship, both in the United States and around the globe. Today, in the USA it is effectively ILLEGAL for a woman to be topless, BREASTFEEDING INCLUDED, in 35 states. In less tolerant places like Louisiana, an exposed nipple can take a woman to jail for up to three years and cost $2,500 in fines for simply feeding her baby. Even in New York City, which legalized public toplessness in 1992, the NYPD continues to arrest women. Free the Nipple is working to change these inequalities through film, social media, and a grassroots campaign.
Free The Nipple has become a “real life” equality movement that’s sparked a national dialogue. Famous graffiti artists, groups of dedicated women, and influencers such as Miley Cyrus, Norman Reedus, Liv Tyler, Joe Jonas, Lena Dunham, and many many more have shown public support which garnered international press and created a viral #FreeTheNipple campaign.
The issues Free the Nipple is addressing are equal rights for men and women, a more balanced system of censorship, and legal rights for all women to breastfeed in public.
Everyone should have a choice.
