I’m working with Target and Mode Media for Target Style into the new year and they’ve got me reflecting on my personal style and how my moods and/or attitudes can really affect how I decide what to wear each day.
For me, and probably for many of you as well, style is fun because it’s all about self-expression. Every day my mood determines what I’m going to wear. But not only that, when I’m feeling like I want to express myself in a new way, all I have to do is change my outfit, create a new style and voila! I’m wearing who I am. I’ve actually been really feeling this a lot lately as I search for a new direction in my life and fall back on what I know is so essentially “me”.
Here I’ve grabbed a few of my more recent style looks that embody 4 different moods and/or attitudes that I embody most often. I’ve curated products from Target alongside them so you can recreate the look affordably for yourself if you’re feelin’ it too.

Black on Black… ’60s Chic
What’s best about this look is that it’s easy and inherently chic. An all black outfit takes the guesswork out of getting dressed and has a sophisticated look while also being totally modest. I love to add a ’60s twist to make it a little more interesting and I keep it simple with minimal jewelry. I also keep my makeup minimal and with a ’60s feel by playing up my eyes and leaving my lips neutral. You can find this original outfit post here: Sun’s Comin’ Up Too Early

Easy Rider… Classic Cool
My favorite go-to style is easy with a hint of classic cool. Layering long asymmetrical knits over skinny jeans gives me an I just threw this on vibe with a hint of rebellion. The ankle boots add a cool retro rocker vibe without even trying. I keep my hair simple and barely brushed and sweep on mascara and a touch of lip gloss to finish the look. This is what I wear when I have nothing to wear, and it’s my favorite go-to style. You can find this original outfit post here: Love in Slow Motion

Glam Sexy… but understated
Sometimes I just want to feel sexy… there’s something about being married and getting older {or maybe even being a mom} that makes us all feel like we’ve lost it or can’t dress sexy anymore. Honestly, it was the Target Style Boo Challenge where my husband chose my outfit for me, when I realized I stopped dressing sexy because I was married and didn’t want to attract that kind of attention when really, my husband would still like me to dress sexy. It was kind of an eye-opener for me and I’ve been having fun spicing up my looks a lot lately.
I still prefer a bit of an understated sexy look though, like this look here, where my dress is accentuating my body, but my blazer kind of disguises it a little bit. I like a little mystery in my looks rather than giving it all away at once. I also really follow the rules of accentuating my goods and disguising my flaws for an always flattering look as well as sticking with one focal point. For instance, if you’re showing a lot of cleavage, keep your legs more subtle and vice versa. You can find this original outfit post here: Fool’s Gold

Boho Rocker… for everyday
This is a fun look that just makes me feel strong. I love a great rock n’ roll look, and the style of rock n’ roll changes often, making it fun to pull new looks into an old classic. Pairing the body con dress with leather and a hat gives it a bit of a retro-boho feel while being bold and confident at the same time. I finished it with dark berry lips and sunglasses.
