Cheers to a New Year Lovecats!
It’s nearly the end of January and I don’t know about you, but I’ve already had a ton of setbacks this month; trials and tribulations that are seemingly trying to keep me from staying true to this year’s resolutions.
Do you ever feel that way?
This exact feeling is the reason I rarely make New Year’s resolutions and rather try to commit to continually improving each moment in the moment or begin a project soon after I imagine it rather than waiting for some specific day or date to begin. I figure if I don’t do it now, I may never, and why wait when I can start now?
This year, however, I made a few long-term resolutions. I thought for the first time ever maybe, New Year, New Me!… when in fact, that decision and resolution actually began at the beginning of December, it was close enough that I started then but called it a NY resolution. I was feeling confident in my proactive new attitude and take on living for a good month or so, and then life sort of got in the way and I felt a setback. And then I got sick and felt another setback. And now it seems that I can either allow these setbacks to keep me where I am or use them as platforms to jump off of and continue pushing forward.
If I really really want something different, then no matter how much sludge I have to wade through, I have to stay determined to not get stuck in the middle, but to keep trudging forward, no matter how slowly I may move. It’s the commitment to our goals every minute of everyday that actually creates new habits and lasting change. It’s more than just saying we’re going to do it… great change is in the actual doing, even if it is one little step at a time. And this is our life, let’s live it right!
So it’s time to begin again, let’s call it a NEW New Year’s Resolution and decide that no matter how difficult it may seem, to keep moving forward instead of getting stuck in the mud, and to upgrade every minute of everyday in 2015 ~ and always.
