Sseko Designs is an ethical fashion brand based in Uganda employing women and girls who hand make beautiful leather sandals with interchangeable fabric straps, as well as other cute accessories like scarves, bangles, hobos & tote bags, and are an example of how ethical fashion can help end the cycle of poverty.
There is a major issue in Uganda that prevents young women from attending college which means, after secondary school these young women must return home to their isolated poverty stricken villages, or worse, end up in the commercial sex industry.
Sseko began as a way to generate income for talented young women to continue on to university… and it’s working! Every woman who has graduated from Sseko is currently pursuing her college degree or has graduated from university and is on her way to making our world a more beautiful place.
When you support fair trade, your dollars are truly helping make the world a better place.

* Remember the zig-zag part in the late ’90s? Mostly used to disguise dark roots? I’m thinking it kind of works again.
