Other than the Reading Room, which is more of a makeshift guest room, we have two actual dedicated rooms for guests. The Beachy Blue guest room was one of the first rooms I finished decorating in the entire house but there’s one final room {shown above} at the very end of the Long Slanted Hallway and through the guest bathroom that I just haven’t gotten around to completing.
Because of it’s A frame and thus, slanted ceilings, it’s one of my favorite spaces in the house because it’s so different. I’ve made a few updates to it like swapping out the old heavy glass pendant for my fluffy white paper pendant as well as littered the slanted ceiling walls with tiny glow star stickers you can’t see in the daytime but gives our guests a fun surprise when they shut the lights out at night for bed time. But I occasionally sit in there and enjoy them too!
I’ve had ideas for this room but until recently, no real purpose to finish it with more than the bed/curtains/ and random furniture, but I think the shape of it will lend itself really well to a perfect meditation space. I only wish I thought of it sooner.
I’m flirting with meditation lately, as I read through Buddhism and find the practice of it not only calming, but healing as well, and love the idea of having a dedicated space for it -hoping it will help me commit to it AND since we basically have a room perfectly suited for it that is not being used that often, I thought, why not?. But since I want to keep it as a place for guests to stay as well, I’ll have to keep the bed front and center.
I’ve been searching Pinterest for some ideas and here are a few of my favorites, each having an element or feeling I’d love to incorporate in my own way…
