A few weeks ago I came across Chanel’s silver and pink 2012 runway nails and thought it was a better {and much easier} way to achieve that neon rimmed nail art manicure that didn’t go over so well — and I couldn’t wait to try it! Luckily I had a fresh pack of metallic silver nail patches from Sephora I bought years ago before nail patches were really sold anywhere else and thought it would be the perfect project to keep me busy in the car on the way to Palm Springs last week. I added the fun neon fuchsia/purple color when I had a little free time the following day. In the meantime though, Fab Fatale and The Budget Babe both did similar Chanel nail art manicures, which I thought was funny. We’re all on the same mani wavelength!
Here’s how I did mine…
* I used metallic Silver nail patches (or stickers) from Sephora as my base… They were so easy, I applied them in the car & photographed the process with my iphone.
* You simply peel the sticker away from its backing, smooth it onto your nail with your finger, then carefully fold it over the edges of your nail and tear off the remainder.
* My nails are very little and short as well, so I used the excess I ripped off my nails, for my toes. It was a cinch too!
* I applied a few short strokes, and only one coat of Francesca’s Collections nail polish in Maneater {which I cannot find online} in the center of my nail allowing the silver to show around the edges.
TIP: choose a thick nail color for this so it goes on in one coat and doesn’t slide around on the nail before it dries. I wouldn’t advise using Essie for this particular manicure because their polishes tend to be a little watery.
I did NOT use a top coat and even with swimming and general vacationing activities, this manicure lasted an entire week without chipping!
Rarrrrrr!
Have Fun!
