Oh I just love Halloween! How is it not your favorite time of the year and holiday? I think I may even enjoy it more than Christmas! Some years I decorate and some years I don’t, but no matter what, I feel a festive creativity come over me each October that I just love. I find myself looking forward to it at the end of the hot summer months when a chill is finally in the air and the leaves are changing colors and everything feels vibrant again.
Though I kept most of my basic fall decor intact from my Simple Fall Decor Upgrades, I created a fun and festive spooky glam Halloween tablescape that looked like a party all by itself and a delicious wine cocktail recipe with Ecco Domani Merlot. Below the recipe I’ve created a list of links of items seen on my table so you can create a similar look for your Halloween party if you like!
When I was looking for a great wine cocktail recipe to compliment my Ecco Domani Merlot, I quickly found a drink called a Burgundy Bishop, and with just a few yummy ingredients, it sounded perfect. Of course, I tested it first to make sure it was indeed delish, and it was, but I had to alter the recipe just a bit to make it a bit more palatable.
This wine cocktail is the perfect Halloween beverage because of its deep red hue. The original recipe called for highball glasses, and though I used crystal to compliment my tablescape, I really think shorty old fashion glasses would work the best with a cocktail straw and maybe even a few cute and/or spooky garnishes to boot. Unfortunately, I was fresh out of spiders and ghouls, so I had to make do with extra powdered sugar and cute straws.
TIP: I also think you could make a punch from this recipe if you didn’t want to make and shake each drink.
How to Make a Burgundy Bishop Wine Cocktail…
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 – 2 oz. White Rum
- 1/4 Lemon (Juice of, fresh)
- 2 tsp. Powdered Sugar
- Ecco Domani Merlot to the top of the ice
Instructions
Original recipe: Shake rum, lemon juice, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a highball glass over ice cubes. Fill with red wine and stir. Decorate with various fruits and serve.
But I created mine a bit differently… I added rum, lemon juice, powdered sugar over ice into my shaker just the same, then filled the rest up with Ecco Domani Merlot, shook and strained it into these crystal glasses and topped each drink off with another little spoonful of powdered sugar for a fun finished look.
And They’re Delish!
Enjoy!
And at the very least, a fun and simple masked party outfit is a must!
