For taking walks, I bundle up like there’s no tomorrow. And usually, because I wear fingerless gloves OR I keep taking my damn hand OUT OF my glove to take photos, my fingertips feel like they’re going to fall off by the time we get back. And then I usually say something ridiculous to the husband like Am I going to LOSE MY FINGERS!??!?! to which you can imagine how he responds.
What I’m Wearing…
* This same Asos Grandpa sweater {see it in full here} that is just too good to take off. On the regular, I leave my plaid flannel button down with it, as in, I take them both off carefully, together, so I can put them back on, together, and usually over a thermal henley. It’s on sale for $20 now {um, rad} and fits oversized but true to size. I buy a Medium and have it in cream too.
* White pashmina scarf under…
* Knit bow scarf from Kacia at Coconut Robot You can buy one here
* Paige premium jeans… also seen here
* Anne Klein “Wendy” coat which is a pretty deep chocolatey/coppery color and it’s really warm and fabulous. I went on a coat shopping spree once escrow closed and found this one at MyHabit or maybe it was ideeli for about $60-$80 I think, and I love it
* Lumete sunglasses
* Crocs white snow boots {which are available in other colors and are on sale for $39.99}
With all this natural beauty surrounding us now, it’s such a joy to go out for a walk. It’s actually one of the things I was most looking forward to when we decided to move up away from the big city to Lake Arrowhead. There is something so magical about living in the woods with glistening snow and trees the size of skyscrapers… and quiet. So. Much. Quiet… it’s amazing. Though really, comparitively speaking, the hour and a half drive from our old house in LA to where we are now is probably not considered “the woods” to most people. But it’s so different from what we know, it’s like an entirely new world to us.
Winter walks on the snow are my favorite. It’s just so beautiful, my mind literally explodes when I visually take it all in. He tends to walk faster than I do because I keep stopping either in awe, admiring a tree or the sky or something equally ridiculous to most people, or I have to snap some photos. So he’s always ahead of me. And then I’m always trying to catch up. And just as soon as I do, I see something breathtaking and have to stop again.
As hard as we try to get out into nature every day, we only find time about once a week to walk, which we are working on. This was a few weeks ago actually and the first walk we took that we didn’t go down to the lake {see our first snow & my dorky outfit here}.
This is our house {below}… as viewed from the road above… the road that kids sled down when it snows because it doesn’t get plowed. We watch them through the windows of our living room, sitting on our sofa. So cute.
I cannot WAIT to have our house painted this Summer though…
And all of our Crocs snow boots, drying in the mud room. His are still available here for $47 {and he LOVES them because he can easily slip them on and off… My white ones are available here but my original Duck boots with the fur are sold out {but they’re my favorite! beg them to bring them back next season!} Seriously, so comfy! Though not slip-proof. When it’s icy, we put our little rubber traction chains on our boot soles which work wonders for slip-prevention.
I feel like we live in permanent vacation-land… we are so lucky.
