In April, Allie Lehman started the #The100DayProject about 15 weeks ago now, and I’ve been watching her paint and create these gorgeous works of art every day since. I follow her snaps and her instagram, and seeing the process of it all was beautiful to watch, not only for artistry, but for commitment to a really huge project as well… AND has got me kind of itching to jump on a 100 day project of my own, if only to test my focus and commitment to something new.
The soft abstract landscapes Allie has painted for this series remind me a little bit of some of Wayne Thiebaud’s more abstract landscape works, and I find myself staring into them, almost waiting for them to move and dance right on the canvas. They’re beautiful and have a really peaceful quality to them as well… and she’s got them listed for sale now, from canvas, to paper and prints {though so many have sold already!} you should definitely check them out!

Allie’s Inspiration…
“My paintings establish a link between the Midwest landscape’s reality and something completely imagined. I’ve had dreams of expansive Illinois corn fields merging energetically with the ocean and it ends up on canvas by the end of the day. My focus began as a study of aerial views because, while having a extreme fear of heights, it’s something I know nothing about.”
“Having painted extremely realistically from the age 12 through 22, this collection of work allowed myself to break away from my formal training. No matter what, the process of painting brights balance and joy into my own life. My hope is that those who encounter my work feel optimistic and encouraged to stay curious.”
