Completely Gratuitous Outfit / What I Wore to Work

What I’m Wearing
Wide Leg Tweed Trousers: Express
Two Layered Loose Tanks: Forever 21
Oversized Cardigan: Victoria’s Secret
Shoes: DIY : I painted these shoes with yellow and black acrylic paint in 2003 when I couldn’t find a single pair of yellow heels. They were originally {Colin Stuart from VS} and a light brown suede which I figured would actually hold the paint because it was textured rather than an already smooth leather. And, it did. They could use a touch up but eh, they work. {the strap and heel were already black}
Earrings: Aldo
Sunnies: Cheapies from the Farmer’s market three years ago.
Hair: twist stolen from The City …and from 30 Rock {which was hilarious last night, as usual …so glad The Office is back too …but why didn’t they just air that Valentine’s episode around Valentine’s Day?

I love the yellow shoes! That is really cool that you painted them yourself. I’ve always wanted a pair of yellow shoes and I just may try that sometime too now, thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

Just found this blog a couple weeks ago, and wanted to say that I am LOVING your Completely Gratuitous Outfit posts. I’m not particularly “gifted” in that area, so I love to read how people put together entire outfits that look fabulous.

As for your husband – my inexperienced single woman advice is to give him what he wants occasionally – but you know he married the woman who dresses for herself. 😉

Amazing job on the shoes. They match my top today! And, you can’t really go on what the guys say they like – or you’d be dressing like a porn star to go grocery shopping. Just nod, smile and wear what you like 🙂

throwin’ me under the bus I see. You asked, and I prefaced any comments with, wear what you want, I think you are very couture, that’s just not my style. But that’s exactly it, it’s not my style, I’m not wearing it. You should wear what you think works and I respect that. If you prod me I am going to tell you, but remember the whole conversation not just pieces. Luv U

Love the yellow shoes. Cool DIY.

I totally stole the hair twist from the City too! Are you as addicted as I am to that show?

Thats so funny about how guys view style. My bf is the same way. I bought this dress over the summer that I just loved. It was flowy and that tie die bottom that was so popular. He hated it and said he didn’t like it because it didn’t show my figure. hahaha. Typical.

Check out my blog for your “CHIC” award!

I think you look pretty great! 🙂 I think all guys basically don’t like clothes that don’t show off a woman’s figure but you look awesome!

The DIY yellow shoes are super cute. I can’t believe you painted them back in ’03 and they’re still holding up so well 🙂

I think it’s a nice gesture to dress for your husband/significant other sometimes, and I’m sure your husband definitely appreciates it, BUT I think ultimately you’ve been doing the right thing up until this point in dressing for YOU. Obviously your readers love your style choices, so that should say it all!

P.S. LOVE that you love 30 Rock… and The Office, of course–but I feel like that one’s almost a given because everyone loves The Office. 🙂

Anyway, keep doin’ what you’re doin’!
