With the holidays upon us, things are getting hectic… or is it just me?
When it comes down to it, we want to get it all done and all done perfectly, but sometimes, it’s just too overwhelming.
I like to make things easy on myself while also making things look as fabulous as possible. I promise, there is a way!
From holiday decorating to setting a beautiful tablescape to set the mood and right down to the food you serve, there is a way to pull it all together on the fly, and I’m going to share a few of my tips on how I do it.
First thing first, set your table! I love to set my table early in the month when I have a moment of free time. Whether it’s for Thanksgiving or Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate, if you have it done early, it’s one last thing to worry about.
Last year I did an all-inclusive holiday table at the beginning of November so that just by changing the floral arrangements, it would work for any of the holidays. If you opt for white and metallics, or any neutral colors, simply by adding fall colors for Thanksgiving or greens and reds for Christmas, you’re covered.
Once your table is set, and your theme is on point, you can grab flowers or greenery just a day or two before and arrange your centerpiece.
I love keeping a simple white plate set on hand because it works for formal or informal gatherings. Occasionally I mix a contrasting dish in between to break it up and add to the details of my tablescape, but all white always works.
For this table setting, I used eucalyptus, as I have in the past because, if you store it in a plastic bag year round, it keeps moist and you can reuse it year after year. It’s such a pretty green-blue color too and works for any holiday.
I also wrapped my napkins with my DIY Eucalyptus Filled Glass ornaments so each guest could have a takeaway at the end of the night.
When it comes to food, I love simple and easy and cheese is my go-to for appetizers. You can create a cheese plate or go one step further and make these cheese and cracker and tomato bites. They’re delicious and pretty and not too filling and work with any beverage you’re serving as well.
I layered Sargento Sliced Swiss and Sliced Sharp Cheddar Cheese and topped them each with a baby tomato slice with a sprinkling of herbs on top.
I also created delicious and quick chili appetizers for one, to go with it, and topped each with Sargento Shredded Cheese.
Now, if you’ve got the time, you can make your own chili, but my trick is to grab my favorite pre-made organic chili and toss in some extra beans and greens when I’m cooking it to give it a little something extra.
You can certainly serve it as a side dish, but creating single-serving options in tiny bowls topped with Sargento Shredded Cheese and a few crackers or toasted bread slices, you’ll have a fantastic appetizer ready to go.
Remember that the holidays are about having fun and celebrating with friends and family, so make it as easy on yourself as possible by preparing ahead of time and stocking up on Sargento cheese slices and shreds. I always have them both on hand for those last-minute gatherings and holiday parties because cheese really makes everything better, don’t you think?
