Happy Friday Lovecats!
As I settle into my new house, in my new town and my new self, I’ve been thinking a lot about what my new style might look and feel like, because after living on the mountain for so long, layered up for the seasons, dressing for comfort, cold, and other things, I’ve gotten so lazy in my outfits and so bored with my own damn self that I’m really looking to dive into some new looks again that make me feel like ME – without really having to shop for anything new at the same time.
I’m still organizing and putting the finishing touches on my closet room, but if you’re a longtime follower, you know that I view my wardrobe as a collection, curated over time, rather than trendy fast fashion items that I toss when the season is over. That kind of waste simply does not align with my values, on the other hand, the collected closet mindset also means that I MUST have the space to fit all of my collection, and can also lead to a bit of a hoarding situation as well. WHO ME? ðŸ¤
Anyway, saying all that is simply to imply that aside from the barrel jeans I purchased at the beginning of the year, I already have some version of the other denim/jean silhouettes in my closet from years past (because like I said, I save everything and I’m old and have been through all of the trend cycles a woman can go through 🤣 ). This actually makes it fun for me to try to create new and fresh and modern looks and “fits” with what I already have.
So of course, I went to Free People (my fave), not to shop per se, but to see what their trends were, since I always resonate with their bohemian, cool girl vibe with a modern take (no matter my age). However, if you’re been around as long as I have, the only truly new looks here are in the barrel jean category, and that’s simply because this silhouette isn’t one from the past (yes, a baggy jean is from the past, but not in this shape) is all I mean to say. AND, while I am loving the cowboy boot trend, I remember it from the ’90s and I remember it again from the 00’s and am not so sure I will board that ship again – also, it might be heading out as far as I’m concerned at the moment, since we’ve been seeing it for a few years now thanks to Morgan Wallen, IYKYK.
I pulled about 20 looks from the site that I wanted to recreate (in some way) or that simply inspired me to get creative in my own closet… and hopefully you’ll be inspired as well. 😊
