No matter how I begin this post, I get a bit teary-eyed. This is Kelley and she is my cousin but mostly, she is my best friend. We’re about 5 months apart in age and from the time we were born until we were about 14, we only really saw each other on holidays and special occasions.
But on the first day of 9th grade at Notre Dame High School {actually, orientation day} I had plans to meet up with a friend who never showed up. Realizing I got stood up, I went to wait on line for whatever we had to wait in line for, and there was Kelley! And that was the beginning of the best friendship I have ever had.
I’m not sure how it started but we would do this ridiculous thing where we would put our hair up in some random hideous fashion, make an ugly face, then ask the other “Would you still be my friend if I looked like this?” …and then we’d just die laughing showing each other how we looked and then laughing harder and the new hideous face we made …and of course, the answer was always “yes”
In 2003, we moved into an apartment together and partied far too much. Every night we’d go out, we’d take pics in the car on the way. I have so many of these photos and they are HILARIOUS! So many of them are so ridiculous but we had so much fun.
Kell and I have been through so much together I could start a new blog dedicated entirely to all of our stories. There have been two incidences where we did not speak for a couple of months. The last one ended when she called and told me she was pregnant. We no longer share our last name but will always share the same blood and as time has shown, no matter what happens, we will be friends forever. I really can’t write too much because I will just start sobbing. So I’ll end it with this.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELL! I LOVE YOU! I’LL NEVER BREAK UP WITH YOU!
{what? ….21!!!!} I never did it right 😉
