Her Face Says Freedom With a Little Fear

What I’m Wearing…

* Blank Denim The Straight Up Jeans
* WAYF Pink mock neck sweater with pouf sleeves
* Vintage jacket (very old)
* Dolce Vita brown boots from a few years ago
* Tiffany gold initial pendant necklace
* Celine mini luggage tote

* DIY Embellished Sunglasses

Feeling slightly like Chrissy from Three’s Company in this look and I can’t tell if it feels more late ’70s or early ’80s to me, so I suppose it’s a mix of the two with a big dose of NOW. But I LOVE these jeans. They’ve got a very slight stretch to them which makes them super comfy. Some high waist denim just hits at the wrong spot, but these are perfect AND they’re distressed so they’re super soft. Unfortunately I can only find two pairs left at Shopbop in a size 28 & 30 (I’m wearing a 27 and I’m 5’7″ just to give you an idea & they fit true to size -so if you want them a bit baggy, size up) and I have to say the cropped style is more flattering with a heel – because it’s helps to elongate the leg a little, and I liked the way these slouch boots kind of made them a bit stiffer at the bottom for this look anyway.

* Title: Fleetwood Mac ‘Gypsy’And it all comes down to you… Well, you know that it does, well… Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice… Oh and it lights up the night… And you see you’re a gypsy… BACK TO THE GYPSY THAT I WAS – is it a crime to want freedom?

I’m running in a million different directions lately as we tie up loose ends at Dogwood Tavern, hoping to open, well by March 1st, so yet again, we are behind, but we are SO CLOSE it’s insane… I’ve got this crazed energy running through me which is equal parts stress and terrified excitement but sometimes the pulsing heart rate beating from frustration just leads to sobbing breakdowns where I momentarily lose it as I try to gain control of the situation at hand.

Let me start by saying that working with partners is difficult. Especially two male partners. And it’s also great fun, but as a woman who has been dubbed as a rogue agent, and has worked alone for much of her life, this whole partner thing, is a work in progress for me, and probably for all of us (considering we’ve all been one-man/woman shows up until this). We’re also all starting a new business together and while we each bring our own expertise to it to complement it and fill in the voids and gaps to make a really unique whole, this is a first for all of us and we are winging it and hoping for the best.

I have learned so much through the renovation process and have loved so much of it (we have done it all ourselves, besides some plumbing and other random jobs that need specific contractors/licenses, etc.), but the stress of the last year has gotten to all of us and if we don’t open within the next week, the whole thing may just implode. I’m being dramatic, but seriously, I can’t take it anymore. We’re pushing to get open while also arguing every step of the way and its frustrating to say the least.

I wouldn’t have done it any other way, even though I feel foolish for being so naive in so many ways going into it, it’s still something I’m so passionate about, and that I am so excited to see come to life – that the pressure is a bit too much at times. But we’re all working really hard, well, most of us are working really hard -lol (it seems “hard work” is a relative term not everyone understands, that you literally have to do anything and everything when you are starting a business to make it happen), and we’re going to make this happen no matter what and that is worth all the lessons I can and have learned along the way.

This is one of my favorite houses in my neighborhood. Even through the windows it looks super mid-century modern and I just love the architecture (it’s the The 1936 Bennati House in Lake Arrowhead). It needs a little TLC and I would love to buy it but it’s not for sale. I never see anyone here either, so it must be a vacation house. I thought it would be a great backdrop for this look so we drove over (even though I walk past it every day on my hike/walk) it’s just sort of impossible in heeled boots… it’s by architect Rudolph Schindler
