Banana Republic is a whole vibe right now and I’m loving it! The company known for their passion for expedition-wear from faraway places is yet again giving it’s own 90s Preppy Safari looks… and though there’s nothing new about it, it somehow feels refreshing again.
Though I do love a good “I just got off of my yacht and then safari’d” look, I’ve never been a Banana Republic enthusiast, it just wasn’t my go-to style. It wasn’t my mom’s style way back in its heyday and well, it never translated to me either. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever even owned anything from BR, though I did shop at the GAP, the much simpler and more affordable version of BR, for a year or so, probably around the time of those adorable swing dance ads in the late ’90s, where everyone was wearing baggy khakis and ribbed tanks… anyone remembers those? I definitely went through that phase, and I’m not entirely against going through it again actually.
Last week while I was searching for items in my post to link to, I stumbled upon the new Banana Republic and had this realization… of course when I searched a little more I found a few articles already talking about it. Being the vintage lover that I am, I’d probably prefer to rummage through thrift shops to find pieces that fit the look and create a little collection of my own, but who has time for that? BR has everything clean and new and ready to wear and this time I might just hop on the trend.
Check out their latest collection, with a little past inspiration…
