I think it was a PR email that led me to 20 Questions with Sarah Jessica Parker at Marie Claire the other day and the happy click-through accident quickly reminded me of my early days of blogging {of OUR early days of blogging, if you’re still here with me ;} and it made me smile and think of simpler times and early dreams and passions all coming to life as we created our spaces online and shared our stories with one another.
If you’re a little unfamiliar, blogging memes and tagging posts would filter around the personal blogosphere where we’d all answer Q&A lists like this, then tag other bloggers to post and answer the same list of questions. It was not only fun, it kind of helped remind us who we are, what we love, and what our values are. I think in doing these fun little exercises every now and then, makes it easier to stay true to ourselves every single day.
So even though I’m sure we’re all a little more interested in Sarah Jessica Parker’s twenty Q&A’s, because well, let’s face it, she’s SJP, I thought I’d still take a moment to do the same and “tag” anyone who’d like to join me as well and post on their own blog.
20 Questions
1. What brings you the greatest joy? Awareness, life, love… and my dogs.
2. What are your vices? Used to be cigarettes {I quit nearly 8 years ago} now it’s dark chocolate, anything with sugar, and worrying.
3. What is on your nightstand? Pink Howlite stones… stacks of books I’ve started but not finished.
4. Do you have a secret talent? I can flex my pectoral muscles to bounce to any beat, yeah, my boobs. My mom taught me how to target the muscles when I was very young, lol.
5. What is your greatest indulgence? Fine jewels… and handbags.
6. What should every woman try at least once in her life? Probably all the things that terrify her/us.
7. What makes you laugh? Oh man… my dogs, my husband, my brother, Key & Peele, Friends {excluding Season 1}, so many things I can’t even narrow it down.
8. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? Well, maybe it’s not surprising, but I swear A LOT… I don’t even realize it until I’m around kids and suddenly aware that I’ve said f*ck three times. shit.
9. What is on your bucket list? A trip to Italy on a private jet.
10. What is on your feet right now? Knit socks
11. How did you make your first dollar? Babysitting
12. What superstition do you believe in? I believe that if you really really believe in something and have passion for it, it will come true… good or bad. so be careful.
13. What items in your closet do you wear the most? FRAME Denim Le Skinny Jeans & my Free People faux fur vest.
14. What is the best gift you’ve ever received? I’m going to have to say my engagement ring from the husband, because it came with a marriage proposal.
15. What is on your liquor shelf? At the moment, Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio & Merlot
16. What is on your kitchen counter? Lots of potted orchid plants {leaves only} awaiting their bloom in Spring!
17. What would you never leave home without? Sunglasses… and my iPhone {blerg}
18. What movie has the greatest ending? Titanic… just kidding.
19. Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party? Morgan Freeman, Maya Angelou, Dave Chapelle, The Twilight Zone guy Rod Serling, Jay-Z, Adam Sandler, Larry David, Marilyn Monroe, Amy Poehler.
20. What is one thing you wish you had known when you were younger? That everything is going to happen exactly how it is supposed to happy no matter how much you worry about it or try to change it.
