* Title: The Psychedelic Furs – Love My Way
This is really just my simple throw-on snow outfit which is pretty basic, but gets the job done. I’m standing right outside my office, next to the driveway really… the snow is piled up SO HIGH it’s insane. It was pretty here, but it’s all starting to get dirty now. I’m over it. I want the sun and the longer days and the warmth and COVID to be over and to just have a little FUN!
Lovecats, I’ve officially gone off the deep end and have become completely obsessed with roller skating. I’m not necessarily saying it’s a bad thing, actually I haven’t been this excited about something in a long LONG time… and I think because I have to WAIT to actually do it, it’s making me want it even more.
Sure, (and luckily) I already have indoor skates/wheels and have been skating in my house almost every day and was able to skate at Dogwood a few Fridays ago because we were closed due to the snow, but that’s just not enough. My house is not big enough to do anything but practice drills and dance moves, so I get frustrated and in the meantime have purchased not one pair of new outdoor skates but THREE PAIRS yes, 3 and not one of them have arrived yet. I’ve even purchased new wheels thinking I could switch out the indoor ones I have on my current skates, but they haven’t arrived yet either.
Do I need three pairs of skates? No, I definitely do not, however, I’m so excited to feel the difference between them all and the wheels considering I grew up wearing mostly hand-me-down skates and/or skating on whatever wheels came on the skates, the idea of having my own brand new skates and obviously being able to buy them is probably healing some childhood trauma, or that’s what I’m telling myself anyway, haha 🙂
But also, I’ll be able to do a review on them and compare them for anyone who, like me, was looking for the perfect skate for their feet and their needs.
Luckily I have a friend here (Michelle, you saw her in my roller skating post last week) who has become just as obsessed as I have with the whole idea and she is also waiting for her (now 2) pairs of skates to arrive as well.
We were both able to grab a pair of Moxi Lolly’s when Fritzy’s dropped them on Monday afternoon before they sold out! They were the initial brand I wanted to try but were sold out everywhere, so I went with Moonlight Rollers, which I am equally as excited about, but when I heard Moxi’s were going to be released, I had to jump on it. Skates are really hard to get right now! Hopefully we’ll get them Friday and be able to hit the pavement this weekend. We’ve been scouting out local locations to skate at with smooth surfaces and have found a few really fun potential options and have gathered a handful of other mountain girls/women (including my mom!) who are excited to skate too. I’m hoping by Summer we have a full on girl skate crew because the idea of that just sounds so fun to me. And honestly, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already planning outfits around my skates 😉 Let’s just hope we don’t have to wear masks because, UGH!
Hopefully this is more inspiring to you than it is boring (lol) because I’ll most likely be adding roller skating content here and on my social platforms on the regular, but maybe not… You never know. It’s just so fun and freeing and is such a great cardio workout with leg and core strengthening as well. Like dancing, it’s the perfect workout because it’s SO FUN! GAH! I can’t wait to SKATE!
Happy Hump Day Lovecats!
