Despite bad reviews, getting cancelled after only one season, and Nasty Gal’s current lawsuit/bankruptcy debacle that led to her selling of the company for a mere $20 mil (and I only use the word “mere” because it was apparently worth $200 million) I actually really like the Netflix original show, based loosely on Sophia Amoruso’s life, Girlboss.
Maybe it’s because I have a kind-of similar past, or the fact that I’m a woman who has a career on the internet and once had a small eBay biz about a hundred years ago -which never amounted to much, but was still profitable… or the fact that I actually like the Nasty Gal brand and its founder, Sophia Amoruso – and have read and enjoyed the book #GIRLBOSS… or maybe it’s because it’s just a show and it’s cute and quirky and I like the actors in it… AND maybe for all those reasons, I’m currently binge-watching it on Netflix… (in my very limited free time these days).
I mean, why does everything have to be so serious anyway? I like that this show is not. I like that it’s about women who rule, even if in real life, said women may have had some failures (who hasn’t?) it’s still a fun and entertaining show if you tend to like such things as fashion and doing shit with your life and being generally awesome. There’s just something about it that I like. And something about watching it inspires me a little, motivates me to focus, work hard – and be a badass… and I like that feeling.
If you like that feeling too… watch it 🙂
