I stumbled upon Gwyneth Paltrow’s Architectural Digest home tour the other day on youtube and just HAD to share. You may have seen it already, because there are almost 2 million views at this point BUT if you haven’t seen it, give the video a quick watch because it’s a truly unique and beautiful home and the photos don’t really do it justice… though I did notice more color in the photos vs the video which feels a bit washed out, but either way, it’s pretty dreamy.
I love the mix of old world European influences with the new 80s (as I like to call it) contemporary minimalist meets maximalist twist complete with its own spa. Yes, a full at-home SPA… and IT’S GORGEOUS.
The entryway is a dream room all on its own and I love that each room has its own fire place. The house is warm and cozy while also being completely contemporary and chic and seemingly sprawling, even though they don’t even show the bedrooms! I’m not even sure how they did it because it seems like an extreme of opposites but it’s beautiful.
I also like what Gwyneth said about changing up the floors in different rooms because I usually disagree. I like consistent flooring throughout a house (probably because I’ve grown up in houses with mismatched flooring and it felt chaotic to me) but her idea is that each room is different and so the floors should match. However, I has to depend on the house because an open floor plan house looks completely disjointed to me if it has mixed flooring and contrasting patterns.
above are photos from AD article / below are my own screenshots from the video (which is why they’re a bit blurry)
Happy Friday Lovecats!
