What I’m Wearing
* short Burberry Trench coat …a favorite really …last seen here
* J Crew men’s white button down shirt …an old one of my husband’s …last seen here
* BB Dakota body con bandage mini skirt …last seen here
* Vintage black and gold belt
* Vintage silk {women’s} polka dotted bow ties – these were my grandma’s
* Forever 21 pointy toe suede pumps …which I bought forever ago for about $25. They had one strap with buckle (closest to the toe) but the shoes straight slipped off my feet. They sat in the back seat of my car for about two years before I finally took them to the shoe repair and had them add the other two straps in suede which cost about $55, more than the shoes. This is the first time wearing them actually and I love the look ..I only wish the heel was a bit higher.
* D&G watch, vintage gold charm bracelet, gold hoops, various gold stacking rings
* Tom Ford cat eye sunglasses
* Vintage Gucci bag
* Title: Tears for Fears “Head Over Heels”
The time change has really inconvenienced me in a way I did not foresee. That’s not true, I totally worried about it all day …but didn’t think it was going to be as much of an issue as it turned out to be.
I leave the gallery at 4pm now …these are the days I document my outfits. It is completely dark by 5:12pm. Do you see my time window for outfit photographing? …not very long considering the sun has almost set by the time I get in my car. This explains all the dark photos. It does not explain why I took my hair out of the bun it was in, which obviously looked better than after I took it down, and gave the outfit an entirely different look – bleh. The whole process bummed me out because I really loved this outfit.
It’s possible I complain too much. I also hate the wind. It freaks me out.

OH AND …Happy Veterans Day, to the brave men & women who serve our country. My dad’s head was fucked after he was in Vietnam. War absolutely ruined him. No good comes from war. It blows my mind that we still go to war …especially in the name of God. Haven’t we evolved as humans in the least? It saddens me. But I’m all kinds of negative today.

I actually agree.. I hate military politics. I do support the members themselves though.
I was enlisted until quite recently and got to see how political it all very much is firsthand…
I got discharged for an eating disorder and they paid me off… no joke… they admit they aggravated the disorder and gave me money as if that made it all okay.
blech!
that was just icing.

Oh my word, I can’t believe I’ve abandoned your blog, haven’t visited or commented for soooo long! It’s one of my favourites and this post is no exception, the way you dress is so well put together…classy lady all around 🙂 We have Rememberance Day today as well, everyone wearing poppies, awfully sad thinking about it really. Sorry about your dad…about everything that must have happened.

I am sorry about your dad. You can complain all you want. It was genius to get the extra straps put on those shoes. I thought they were Louboutin at first! It is hard to get good lighting now for photos so I know what you mean. These look great though. x

Wow. Wow. I just read the post about your Dad. I’m sorry you lost him, first, and those memories of being in Vietnam, the boy on the bike.. unreal. It’s so eye opening. Holy cow.
On a slightly brighter note, super smart to add the straps to those shoes and before I ready you wished they were higher, I was thinking that they look pretty high! 😛

The extra straps were a great addition. it added some UMPH to a pair of simple shoes. I’m having the same issues with trying to take pics of my outfits before it gets dark!! Bummer!!

I hate the dark too. It’s such a bummer. I like the look the heels actually look sexy, but not overtly sexy.

Life is Reed-iculous!
sometimes i just love an awesome black pointy toe pump. and isn’t it amazing that 4in seems to be the standard for “high” heels. i try on old shoes and think “omg these are the shortest heels ever”. hmmm. something to ponder.

You look stunning! … I can believe those shoes came out of Forever 21! they are amazing and though you had to invest 55 more on the fixing, they were worthy! They look very expensive! I can remember similar Manolo’s! … The bow tie is just so cute on you! and about time change? I hate it too! … I feel like I’m always late!
great outfit darling!

Those shoes are so darling, I love the straps. I actually love the pics with your hair down, so fab!
And I am dealing with the inconvenience of taking outfit pics in the dark too. 🙁 And I leave work at 5:30.
I took pics on my lunch break today (the first time I’ve had to take them myself) and I am being such a baby about it, lol. I hate finding a spot, and I hate when people ride by and look… grrrr!
Oh well, I guess I will have to make it work and I’m sure you will too! 🙂

I am sorry about your dad.
It is amazing that at this day and age war exists, that tells you how very little we have come and how much farther we must go.
You look lovely, what a great idea to have two bows at the same time, I am certain you would make Karl Lagerfeld proud.
Chicago Mom (Heather)
I read your older post about your dad and it makes me so f-ing sad. My real father was in Vietnam too. It also messed him up. He turned to drugs and alchohol. I HATE war for this reason.
Thanks for sharing. I wish I had just 1 picture of my real father but I don’t. That picture of your young dad breaks my heart. That excessive sun exposure in the war is probably what did him in later. Do you think? Sorry Maegan.
Meg
In the third picture from the top, you look like you’re holding a microphone. 😉
Great post! You’re gorgeous! And strong!!

I have always loved the white shirt and black high-waisted skirt look! And with your grandma’s silk scarves……..what a look! I have a couple of polka-dot thin scarves I will wear with my white blouses/shirts and black skirts or pants. Thanks for all your inspiration.

The shoes turned out great!
I’m so sorry about everything your Dad went through. You don’t sound negative, just honest. There’s no reason so much of this still exists.
corksandcaftans
phew! I’ve been so busy, as a loyal reader I haven’t kept up well AT ALL. I just got through 23 posts, and I’m happy to say, I think I just finished on the best one! You look stunning. The silk ties around your neck are just magic. My favorite thing about your style is that, no matter what trends you try, you never turn it into a “Man Repeller” (have you been to that blog? Hysterical.) and always look… so damned sexy!
anyway… fantastic. hang in through the time change!
cheers!

I don’t leave comments very often, but I did just want to pop in on this post. Love the outfit, and the way you tied in the two polka-dot silk scarves.
I understand how you feel about war, especially with the way it’s affected your dad. However, I just wanted to mention that I know there are so many men and women in Iraq today that are thanking God Saddam is out of power; who are thanking God someone came to stop his madness. Men and women who were tortured and raped daily, or whose family was. Men and women who were begging God to send someone to remove this madman and his accomplices.
War is always horrific, but I wonder what the worse course of action would be. To go and rescue, albeit with casualties and mistakes along the way because we’re human? Or to never go in the first place and let what is happening continue? There will always be men who are mad enough to do the things Saddam did… Hitler did… Joseph Kony is doing. When there are not enough men and women to rise up and say, “You are wrong and we won’t let you do this anymore.” that is when they will be allowed to continue.
War is horrific. But, there are much more horrific things that will happen in this world if we do not at times rise up and engage in it. I pray God gives us the wisdom of when and how.

This outfit was so professionally sexy. How do you do it, Maeg?!
I like this one, especially, with the bun.
Marisa
I die for this outfit. Seriously. Everything about it is perfection.
bananas.
you look like a sexy harvard law student…if that existed.
actually i’m sure the men are hot.

The wind scares me too. It’s ridiculously strong here in Brentwood and this old apt building and shakey windows isn’t making it any better.

Great re-purposing of the shoes!!

I love the triple strap. Before you said they were Forever 21, I was thinking they looked very 90’s vintage and I loved them!
tiffanyturtle
you look like a flight attendant in your pix! About to go to PAris, for a long layover, where you have a date with a sexy frenchman….sorry got carried away there!
Tiffany
the shoes look amazing, I love that you took in cheapo shoes, such a great idea to create your own one of a kind shoes.
i just noticed the two commenters above me are named Tiffany as well. Funny!
sexylegsandbody
Hi Megan, hair down will always get my vote, more feminine in my opinion. Despite the bad light, you did great with the pics, I love this outfit, a short skirt and heels always spells sex appeal, yet with ample style and elegance. In your case you can add class to the list.
About your dad, well I can relate, war never determines who is right, but only who is left. The world is a mess, and we are only making it worse. Mostly because some idiots with misplaced authority decide over the fate of innocent and mostly helpless people.
Anyway, I love your site, great posts. I would love to read them all, but time is just not on my side.
Colin.

Those shoes are fantastic! I wish I had a pair! Love them!!!!
