What I’m Wearing…
* English Factory pink tied up sweatshirt… I took the ribbons out because they were too long and annoying for this… although would have looked really cool in the videos I shot – you can see it here… and why I didn’t originally want brightly colored skates because I’m already trying to match them. I can’t help it 🙂
* Grey sweats are Chad’s… I borrowed them because they’re fleece-lined and SO WARM! And now I think I have to find some of my own.
* Oversized denim jacket is Chad’s too, lol, but I bought it for him so it doesn’t count. I’m grabbing it to wear almost daily because I love it! It’s lined and hooded and thick and cozy and warm.
* Barton Perreira sunglasses, I can’t stop wearing.
* Furry beanie
* Strawberry pink Moxi Lolly’s roller skates outdoor
* Title: Beatles – All You Need is Love… love, love, love. All you need is love, love is all you need.
I meant to post this yesterday but not only was I a little preoccupied, I also am not trying to inundate you with roller skating content, but I can’t help it… It’s all I want to do right now!
The other day I mentioned to my mom how much fun I’m having roller skating again and how I haven’t really been this excited or obsessed about anything in the a long time… and she reminded me that I was THIS excited about my new office. And she’s right. I was and still am ridiculously excited about my new office and it’s been totally motivating me to work more consistently again, WHICH I LOVE and have missed for so long. But what I meant was that I’m excited to have a hobby – one that does and will eventually include lots of roller skating ladies… and after being on pandemic lock down for an entire year, I think the idea of just being able to be out and rolling around alone or with friends and family is such a freeing feeling it’s giving me hope that spring and summer will be a whole new experience this year… and while blogging was a hobby way back when it started, it became my work, which of course I LOVE, but it’s different now. I have this new outlet that is totally a hobby and feels so completely freeing that I can’t stop thinking about wanting to be on my skates!
This, of course, prompted me to get Chad a pair of skates for Valentine’s Day… though he did mention he would love to skate with me IF he had skates (hint taken) because he also skated as a kid and roller bladed when he was older. And then, of course, I thought, why not get skates for the girls too so we could all go out and skate together and have a little fun… and so we did! On Valentine’s Day… And it was, a blast.
This was the girls’ first time on skates, so they have some learning to do, and Chad was so hands on with them, it was really sweet to watch. I honestly didn’t do much in the teaching aspect of it, it was all him, I just helped by giving pointers and even fell when my wheels caught each other, showing the girls that no matter how long you’ve been skating or how “good” someone is, there is ALWAYS a chance of falling.
CHAD’S SKATES: Chaya Sunset Beach Roller -with nice outdoor wheels- (size up if you can, they run a little snug)
PEYTON’S SKATES – (9yrs) : Roller Derby Girls Pixie Holographic Roller Skates with Adjustable sizing (3-6) – we found these in-store. SHE LOVES THEM. I LOVE THEM! — Impala skates makes these in adult sizes and bigger kid sizes.
ALLIE’S SKATES – (7yrs) : Roller Derby Fun Roll – adjustable (and much easier to learn on with the larger wheels in back)
Also, we were so lucky to catch this incredible sunset!
We’re at McKay park in Lake Arrowhead, the park with the most beautiful views… they’ve just added a tennis court, and while I don’t think they’re quite finished with it yet, it’s the perfect place to skate. The nets were really helpful for the girls as they learned to keep their balance on the wheels.
In other news, I think my light blue pair of BTFL skates are arriving today! I’m having so much fun on these pink Moxi’s and I can’t wait to get to compare the similar (but far less expensive) version made in Europe. I hope they fit!
I’m also hoping my Moonlight’s show up soon, considering I ordered them before all the rest, they should be here any day now. I know it’s excessive, but I’m having so much fun I’ll be wearing them all! I just hope the weather warms up soon because having to layer up like I’m going ice skating just to roller skate is getting a bit boring 😉
Happy Tuesday Lovecats!
