Inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s adorable sleep mask in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s {which I wanted to DIY the first time I ever saw the movie in my late teens}, I created this simple but sweet shimmery closed eye and eyelashes manicure and I’m in love. I have to admit, it’s cuter in person and attracts my attention every time I move my hand. I love the flesh-toned nails because the shimmer eyes and lashes really stand out from this simple manicure, but you could also use aqua as your base color to really replicate Audrey’s mask from the movie.
Here’s What You’ll Need…
* Flesh toned nail polish {I used “Cafe au Lait” by Sally Hansen}
* Metallic gold shimmer {I used Sonia Kashuk “Golden Ticket”}
* Black nail polish pen {or polish with a fine brush}
* Seche Vite top coat
Steps…
1. Give yourself a simple flesh-toned manicure {to match your flesh tone ;}. Two coats and let dry.
2. Paint gold shimmer metallic half moons on your middle and ring fingers and let dry. {they don’t have to be perfect}
3. With your nail art pen, tiny paint brush, dotting tool or even toothpick, outline the edge of your gold half moon to create the eyelid.
4. Carefully swipe on the eyelashes… begin small then gradually get larger, swiping at an angle away from the other so they look semi-natural next to each other. {I did one side better than the other – you can clean them up to be perfect, but it’s also still cute if they’re not}
Finish with your favorite top coat to seal the deal.
And… Voila!
Add Lips to your thumbs to make a face!
This was a fun afterthought… & a suggestion from Bianca Ashley on my Instagram photo the other day! {The photo below was taken two days later, so the manicure was starting to wear down -but still, it had to be done!} I used a red nail art polish pen to create the lips.
Have Fun!
