DIY Leather Over The Knee Boot Spats

* As seen in Vogue Girl Korea 9/2009 *

Leather Over-the-knee Thigh High DIY Spats for your boots or shoes, Tall leather boot spats with ties, Back-Ties-bwpeach-thigh-high-over-the-knee-tall-leather-boots-spats

. . . and with the ties

{leather not as shiny in reality}

See this post for inspiration

Other possible closure options if you don’t have a sewing machine {or even if you do}
* Velcro {stick on or hand stitch on}
* Elastic -this will work also if you don’t have enough leather. {Use a solid piece in the back for a more fitted look or thin horizontal strips all the way down the back}
* Eyelets/Lace-up
* Hooks/Lace-up
* Buckles
* Chains

Wearing options
* Fold over the top and show the suede side.
* More ties or one long leather strip -criss-crossed all the way {like the Chloe’s or Rodarte’s} I actually would have preferred this but I only had enough leather left to make two for each side.
* With flats
* Over jeans/leggings

    Okay, Okay….now I’ve been reading your blog for awhile and seem some of the awesome DIY’s that have inspired me to make my own things (the Liboutin Ruffles for shoes was a particular fave)

    But this…this is just so riDONKulously kewl…I am literally in Vegas, at the studio where I work and my friend and I are telling each other how much we hate you for being so damn clever…

    Thanks Maegan, love your style. These boots were an inspiration for my 7 yo’s granddaughter’s halloween costume. I made her cowgirl outfit, pony fake fur vest and skirt, trimmed with pink and black handcut ultrasuede trim. She wanted Mom to buy her a pair of boots; but would not get a whole lot of wear from them in Florida. So, after seeing your post, I made her a matching pair of ultrasuede “boots” with a pair of black shoes underneath, she was thrilled. thanks for the inspiration.
