90s High School: Prom 1994 & Homecoming 1990

Originally published May 6, 2009 // Updated July 2026

I don’t remember the context in which I was pulled to share these, but I’ll leave them here for any type of ’90s reference or history.

NOTE: I only blurred their faces because I didn’t want anyone upset for being published without their permission.

I purchased my dress (above) from a vintage consignment store in LA, and the woman in the boutique told me it belonged to Golidie Hawn. I didn’t buy it because of that, I love the dress, it fit like a glove, but I hated the way my boobs looked at the time and in the phots with my date, I felt “fat” because of the angle, then refused to give them to him. I remember him driving to my house saying “I paid for them” and I finally handed them over. I hated them tho 😝 I wore the dress years later to a Halloween wedding with a black velvet cape and black slipper because I’d just had surgery (and the bride wore purple, so it was okay). The dress was a creamy ivory, not white, but I loved it… and then I washed it after something spilled on it at the wedding and then I ruined it in the washing machine. I was in my early twenties, but I learned my lesson about laundering clothes incorrectly 😢

I do not remember still “doing my bangs” in the early 90s, but Homecoming (below) was in the fall, I believe, and so it seems the ’80s bled over into the early ’90s in a way I didn’t remember.
