With all the great distractions in our modern world I find it more and more difficult to make time for reading. This year however, I have vowed to not only finish all the books I’ve started {which is a handful} but to make room for a few new ones as well.
Thanks to some great advice from a lovely reader {of my blog}, I have been reading The Mood Cure on my Kindle
which is helping me differentiate between real and false moods and how to boost serotonin and other mood enhancing brain chemicals naturally.
But when I heard about this new book The Nine Rooms of Happiness: Loving Yourself, Finding Your Purpose, and Getting Over Life’s Little Imperfections I thought it would be a perfect companion. Why not work on both physical and mental aspect of health for overall well being? I love the idea of compartmentalizing our emotions and behavior patterns into rooms and somehow think it really may be the key to figuring it all out …whatever that may be.
So that’s what I’m doing for the rest of this dreary Sunday afternoon …even though I have 100 things nagging at me to “get done”, sometimes I need to shut it all out and make time for me …and today that means getting comfy and cozy, quieting my mind and focusing on a great book, or two.

It’s funny you posted this today because I was reading this week People and in it was a review for this book and I immediately thought that based on some of your post I’ve read you would really like this book. Good luck with it!

We should try to spend one day a week in peace and tranquility. Reading a book, magazines, etc. with a cup of tea or hot chocolate. It reminds me (many years ago) of when most people stayed home on Sundays. (Most stores and businesses were closed.) Fresh donuts in the morning and/or an ice cream cone in the afternoon. We didn’t have many material items, but we did have that one day of peace.

Looks like a good upbeat book. One of my favorites lately is Give it Up, My Year of Living With Less.

I too spent Sunday curled up with the weekend paper, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I’ve been warned it’s going to suck me in – the story is pretty gripping so far!
